What would cause noise (ground noise?) when touching the volume control and tone controls?
Back in the day, I had the same issue with an amp.  It had a two prong A/C plug, and turning the plug over, i.e., reversing the  prongs, solved the problem. I guess since only one prong was supposed to be driven and the other was supposed to be a...

How To Keep Cat Off Stereo Equipment?
As @allenf1963 mentioned, cats seem to be afraid of cucumbers. So maybe put a few cukes around your rig. https://youtu.be/Vq4q8g7ClH4
What's all the fuss about late 70s and earl 80s run of the mill midfi turntables?
@mahler123 Too bad it didn't sound good.  Perhaps the rubber suspension components of the cartridge had deteriorated?  Would replacing the arm and cartridge be worth considering?
Home audio or pro audio?
I have been pleased using some components made by "pro" manufacturers. My Manley Steelhead is a consumer product although Manley makes a lot of pro gear. I use Bryston monoblock amps in my home theater.  They sound great and construction is bull...
Worth fixing?
I had a nice basement system including a Classe Tuner 1 and a Classe CA 100 amp. When the tuner failed, I left it with the repair shop and after a month they said it needed a part that had become unavailable. I looked up the part and it had been ...

The old Duals were well-made for the time.  I enjoyed many hours listening to my 1019 with Shure V-15 III.  Still have it in storage.
Some more modern jazz piano trios
Let me add this.  The Patricia Barber Trio. I know many consider her a vocalist, but of course she is an excellent pianist as well.  Here is one of my favorite instrumental performances by her:

I’m also a fan of Brad Mehldau and I like Yuko Mabuchi too.
Were you an audiophile in the 1980s and 1990s?
@jjss49 I really enjoyed reading Corey Greenberg.  I wish he had stayed writing longer. Tony Cordesman (AHC) was another one of my favorites.
Comparing Phono Pre-Amps
Long listening sessions are a good method.  However, if A/B switching is desired too, then use two turntables to do quick switch A/B listening.  Many of us have more than one turntable. Of course the tables will not sound the same, but difference...
Female vocalist recommendations
Let me add this one -- Lisa Fisher demonstrates a truly AWESOME vocal range in this live performance of Look of Love with Chris Botti.
Female vocalist recommendations
Marilyn McCoo, Whitney Houston, Dionne Warwick.
Stepping Up From A Graham 2.2 On A Basis Audio Debut Deck
+1 For the Graham Phantom.  It's a great arm and shouldn't have any compatibility issues replacing the 2.2  Setting up is along the same lines as the 2.2.
Post “Three Blind Mice” Japanese Jazz
Yuko is a pleasure to listen to. I admire her creativity with both classics and new material. I have enjoyed her performances at Herb Alpert’s Vibrato Grill. Season 2 of Glory is currently expected to be available on March 10. I look forward to t...
