+1 @tvad!I wouldnt trust ebay for such a purchase.....I have used Brent Jessee, as well....pleasant to deal with, great advice and selection...in this case I believe you get what you pay for, with diminishing returns.....Good luck 
Why the hate for mcintosh amps?
LOVE the ROLEX analogies, though it falls slightly short in that different watches dont tell the time differently, as opposed to audio components which sound different....both Rolex and Mac have had and continue to have HUGE fan base and continue ...

As always, some getting off topic, some unnecessary and nasty name calling, some good observations , some repetitive. I can only hope my OP has caused thought and raised awareness…the question, itself, was rhetorical…..
