Do Streamer only devices really impact sound quality?
Correct. Bits are bits. And jitter in today's equipment is so small it cannot possibly be audible. And error correction has been perfected for decades. Even as far back as when I was doing network programming for banking systems in the 80's.
Do speaker cables really make a difference ?
On this forum they do. On scientific forums they don't.
Do I need a streamer?
Nope. Bits are bits.
What selections do you play when showing off your system to others?
Tiger Prowl - Cualli (electronic show-off music) Battle for Dawn - Brand X Music (epic cinematic music) In Deep and Wooded Forest of My Youth - Xanthochroid Sad But True - Metallica (for the drums, which were recorded in a very unique way) The...
System that sounds so real it is easy to mistaken it is not live
No. Not even close. Although, playing a Taylor 410 myself, Magnepans seem to get closest to an acoustic guitar.
What is the added value of a streamer over a networked dedicated Computer
@yage  "However, considerable jitter needs to be introduced before audible effects can be heard." Bingo. And yet people still waste thousands of dollars on DACs when a $130 SMSL would more than suffice. It takes just 5 minutes to look up a mea...

IMHO, instant-on is the only advantage, although streaming through my Amazon Echo starts just as fast. But if you have to boot up a laptop or tablet.... Otherwise, bits are bits.
We Can Make Classic Cars Outperform Today's "SuperCars": Why Not Vintage Audio?
No need. My vintage amps sound exactly like my newer amps and "improving" them won't make any difference in the sound since any differences would be beyond the level of audibility.
Where do you want your system to go when you go?
I don't care. It's just stuff. "Stuff" isn't important. I've made a list of the value of all my stuff that's worth selling, and the best and easiest places to offload it, so my heirs can get appropriate cash for it if they don't want it. But I don...
Best Sound Track Ever Vote for One
The Last Samurai - Hans Zimmer
Do you consider cables to be a "component" of your system?
No Although I would tell them they'd need an additional $50 for interconnects and speaker cable. But there is enough technical and blind test proof that cables are irrelevant if within specs for the application.
Politics and Music
While I pay little attention to lyrics, they do seem to have an effect on some people. The young and undeveloped seem particularly susceptible to musical propaganda. But my thoughts are that there are probably no lyricists, or other types of celeb...
The sound quality from DACs - is it all the same?
@thyname  The gear itself is meaningless to me 🙄 Obviously. For those who think everything sounds the same. Where did I say everything sounds the same? As a matter of fact, in my first statement of this thread I explained how DAC manufacturer...
The sound quality from DACs - is it all the same?
@nonoise Then you obviously don't understand the concept of confirmation bias, nor I suspect cognitive dissonance either.
The sound quality from DACs - is it all the same?
@stuartk  I prefer to not let myself be influenced by others confirmation and cognitive biases. I don't consider gear a hobby. I consider achieving the best sound at an acceptable cost/benefit ratio a hobby. The gear itself is meaningless to me....
