Favourite Guitarists @digsmithd As a guitarist i have been on the hunt for out side the box players Nick Johnston's Remarkably Human is the best guitar album I've heard in 30 years. I didn't list him here because, as a guitarist myself, I judge based on skill wit...
Those singers you enjoy,....that don't really have a great voice? SRV ... but somehow it fits the blues style.
Favourite Guitarists 1. Buckethead 2. SRV 3. Can't decide (Michael Batio, Yngwie Malmsteen, Guthrie Govan) I play guitar, so I lean more toward ability than compositional skills. If you asked who were my favorite composers who play guitar, Buckethead would still...
What are your top 3 favorite female singers? Ann Wilson (circa 1980) Tatiana Shmayluk (progressive metal with a mixture of clean and growl vocals) the ultimate metal female growl with amazing clean vocals and belting. Best examples - Pisces; Judgement & Punishment one-take vocal perf...
Why are so many people spending so much money to build “perfect” streaming system? @zlone The two factors that are frequently ignored in the streamer space, beyond the 1's and 0's, are noise and jitter. These are real factors in hardware design and in the end audio quality. Especially jitter. It is undeniable that the clockin...
Why are so many people spending so much money to build “perfect” streaming system? @charles1dad There have simply been a huge number of people who have begun streaming at a modest level and subsequently moved upward in sound quality and performance. They are not delusional or gullible. 51% of Americans believe in UFOs, even...
Why are so many people spending so much money to build “perfect” streaming system? @walkenfan2013 I get the exposure to discover new bands. I just think it is so complicated and overpriced to need all that new equipment. You don't need a lot of equipment. Or expensive equipment. I stream through an Amazon Echo via voice co...
Only two tracks to test your system, forever! Tiger Prowl - Cualli War of the Worlds tripod emergence scene
Do Streamer only devices really impact sound quality? Correct. Bits are bits. And jitter in today's equipment is so small it cannot possibly be audible. And error correction has been perfected for decades. Even as far back as when I was doing network programming for banking systems in the 80's.
Do speaker cables really make a difference ? On this forum they do. On scientific forums they don't.
Do I need a streamer? Nope. Bits are bits.
What selections do you play when showing off your system to others? Tiger Prowl - Cualli (electronic show-off music) Battle for Dawn - Brand X Music (epic cinematic music) In Deep and Wooded Forest of My Youth - Xanthochroid Sad But True - Metallica (for the drums, which were recorded in a very unique way) The...
System that sounds so real it is easy to mistaken it is not live No. Not even close. Although, playing a Taylor 410 myself, Magnepans seem to get closest to an acoustic guitar.
What is the added value of a streamer over a networked dedicated Computer @yage "However, considerable jitter needs to be introduced before audible effects can be heard." Bingo. And yet people still waste thousands of dollars on DACs when a $130 SMSL would more than suffice. It takes just 5 minutes to look up a mea...
What is the added value of a streamer over a networked dedicated Computer IMHO, instant-on is the only advantage, although streaming through my Amazon Echo starts just as fast. But if you have to boot up a laptop or tablet.... Otherwise, bits are bits. |
