Amp(s) to drive B&W 803 D3 speakers
I’ve owned a Wells Audio Innamorata Signature amplifier ($15k) for many years (I think it’s called Innamorata II now, w/ a different chassis). It is a fantastic amp. I recently read that it has a similar harmonic profile as Pass and Coda but I wou...
Best DACs under $7,000.00
@tvad, agreed. Excellent wording change suggestion. And after owning Daedalus Ulysses and Argos, I’d also theorize M3 over the M1.
Best DACs under $7,000.00
Calling the Bricasti M3 “light” and/or “bright” goes against the reviews, as well as my own experience owning one for a couple years (yes, with MDX). It was never light or bright in my system, through a few system iterations. The M3 is ‘warmer fee...
Anyone still use MiniDisc, DDC tape or DAT tapes?
@rhg3 i have not. I did give some of the best recordings I pulled to a guy who uploaded them, I think. I believe a source of mine has been needed to fill the gap only once or twice.
Anyone still use MiniDisc, DDC tape or DAT tapes?
I was a concert ‘taper’ for many years. I still have all my master DAT’s, as well as all the tapes I received in trades. Still have my whole field recording rig, too. Mics and all, including the Tascam DA-P1 and a couple Sony D8’s.
Power Cord Recommendations for Bricasti M3
The M3 is already a little warm so go with a PC that may have neutral character. And IMO one that does not emphasize bass frequencies. ZenWave PL-11?? I owned an M3 and own PL-11’s but did not have them at the same time.
Jays CD2- Mk3 CDT vrs CEC-TL5 CDT
@robshaw LTA has one linear power supply. I think it was $600+. All ya gotta do is tell them what voltage OR what brand/model component it’s for.
Jays CD2- Mk3 CDT vrs CEC-TL5 CDT
My comment would be that most manufactures with offerings that use a SMPS, require an aftermarket LPS for best performance. It’s not new or rare. There are not many companies that include —or even offer—  a top quality and performing LPS for its c...
Ayre Acoustics QX-5 Twenty Streaming DAC
Yes, in general, a digital vol control will degrade SQ. It does some “bit stripping” from what I understand.
Puritan PSM156
Or it could easily be based on what type of “dirty electricity” someone has. Maybe each unit works stronger with differing harmonic distortion frequencies? One could even clean the electrical harmonics more than someone is used to and that ends up...
A phenomenal new CD transport-Pro-Ject CD Box RS2 transport
It seems like us Audiophiles learn and relearn about break-in over and over again in the forums. But it’s still always good to see:)   If we had an audiophile rules 101, I’d want *do not evaluate or draw conclusions about a new out-of-the-box comp...
Best300b.com???
@colsaultigh I bought the KR T-100’s from @verdantaudio but for the Richard Kron Limited tubes, I also ended up later ordering RK PX-4’s through Best300B.com. The same happened to me regarding communications but I did hear from Frank F. after I as...
Which DACs are known to be sweet/rich/relaxed?
I’m going to zero in on something else in your system. The cabling —which is actually the cheapest component in your system, not the DAC. Your brand is a great bargain for SQ, even for systems costing much much less than yours. Their power cords a...
Musetec (LKS) MH-DA005 DAC
That comment from the link and quoted by debjit_g, saying the May, a DAC that has not beat other DACs in the width and depth of stage, makes me think the 005 may not of been fully broken-in in that comparison.
Musetec (LKS) MH-DA005 DAC
Has anyone used the AES/EBU input exclusively OR enough to know how it fares against the units ‘best’ input, which I’m assuming is the USB, since the majority of comments are with USB. But what about the XLR with a nice cable and nice transport?  ...
