MSRP, diferentiation and the illusion of value There is an economic concept that may fit this post - inverse elasticity of demand. Put a 6.00 price tag on a bottle of wine and folks will think it is awful and not buy it. Put a 30.00 price tag on the exact same bottle of wine and suddenly folks...
Where are the young audiophiles? The disease of audiophilia is an expensive one. Young folks don't have the coin to play this game.
Sending a 110 lb amp to the manufacturer for cleaning/calibration. Good idea? How to ship? Millercarbon is spot on. You are just inviting a host of gremlins to come in and mess with you.
My journey to find a speaker + amp + setup for classical music (piano) I think Sopra 2 would be an excellent choice for piano music. Violin too.
Straight out of the box doesn't work. The unit should work. Period. YOU shouldn’t be apologizing for a malfunctioning unit. Seller should be apologizing.
ARC REF5se and REF75SE, Accuphase E-650, Luxman L-509X The Lux L-509x is fab. Bought one last month. I am still breaking it in, but will tell you that right out of the box it was wonderful. Smooth, detailed, big sound stage with no harshness on any level.
Recommendations for modern integrated with tone & balance controls other than Mcintosh Recently got the Luxman L-509x. It is fabulous. No listening fatigue at all. Smooth, crisp and powerful. It is powering Dyn 60i speakers through Cardas cables. I love my new amp.
Looking for a ‘’No braine’r Integrated amplifier under 7500 or so The Luxman L-509x is terrific but a bit outside your range. Not sure if you could find one used. Build quality is as superb as the sound quality. I recently got one and am floored at how good it is.
Just received my new Dynaudio Contour 60i in walnut Just upgraded to a Luxman L-509x. The Dyn Contour 60i speakers just love it. Break-in is probably a few hundred hours, but out of the box, I hear sonic improvements and qualities I didn't get out of my SN3. The SN3 is a great piece, just not with ...
For auld lang syne, ..high-end companies you really liked that are gone.... Is RTR still around? My father had a set of RTR twin towers back in the day powered with a big Pioneer receiver.
Speaker recommendation $10-20K (with some requirements!) My Dyn 60i produce no listening fatigue at all. Smoothe like butter. Your description doesn't fit the sound profile of my speakers. Im powering them with Naim equipment. Could it be that the speakers aren't happily married to your pre/amplification?
Okay, How Important Is Speaker Break In? (Dynaudio Contour 60i) I have the Dyn 60i Contours. Right out of the box they were awesome. And with 300 hours of break in time they've gotten a step better. Make sure you get you get them at least 18 inches away from any wall.
Why do some think "music" (not gear, trading, etc.) is the ultimate end? The hunt for new gear, cars, watches and, you name it, is a powerful force too. That force is more powerful than the acquisition of same. Once you get the new amp or car the pull forces towards it diminish I think. There is no end in trading and ...
