You know you have audiophile system when...
When you listen to music & get lost in it, forgetting you're listening to reproduction equipment. That's what its all about......
Large room with low budget for speakers
I have the Volti Audio Rivals in a large room (just over 5K cu. ft.) & they fill it easily at loud volumes w/ maybe 20 tube watt peaks. Sound very good & more like live music than most. They don't have the super extended, pristine high end...
Does Anyone Else Member the Golden Age of Audio Insults and Product Degradation?
So Funny!!! I recall an audio salesperson in about 1980 in a nice store jokingly telling a potential customer who owned Big Ohm speakers (w/ original inverted cone Walsh drivers) that they need lots of power but can’t it so he had the perfect amp ...
Too many choices for R2R DACS--opinions appreciated
I second the Border Patrol DAC & really like it. Sounds very natural, not all fatiguing & very similar to my good turntable. Reasonably priced & made in Maryland.
How do you make a final decision on a DAC
I’ve got a very different suggestion & that is the Border Patrol DAC designed & built by Gary Dews in Maryland. He designs & builds really good tube equipment albeit quite pricey. The fully optioned model is just under $2K & sounds...
"World's Best Cables" vs Audioquest interconnects
I think most electrical engineers would tell you that there’s no such thing as cables “breaking in” but many would also say there’s no difference between any of them sound wise which we know isn’t true. I think any even decent cable should sound p...
Inexpensive Good Vintage Turntables?
There’s a Basis w/ Vector arm & nice cartridge for $4400 on Audio Mart. Probably much better than anything mentioned so far
Caveat Emptor
That is absurd! The 20% restocking fee is designed to enable one to audition equipment in their own home w/ their particular equipment to see if it sounds good. We know some equipment requires breaking in to sound its best. If the equipment is de...
most beautiful (looking) speakers
As you can see from the endless array of answers, it’s in the eye of the beholder.  To me, some of those mentioned are beautiful & some hideous as I’m sure others feel as well. What’s the most beautiful arson or time of day it place in the wor...
recommended speaker cables and interconnects
I’ve recently got a full complement of Triode Wire Labs cables (speaker, interconnect, pier & digital) & think they’re very good & reasonably priced. Handmade to order in  Massapequa Park, NY  in a week or two. Very  well made, very fl...
Need Help Matching to This System To Speakers
For myself, the only potential “advantage” of a small stand mounted speaker without full bass extension ability can be their ability for ultra detail & disappearing act ( often due to potentially less cabinet resonance s) which many hold in ve...
Scam Alert
Don’t even open emails or click on anything in ones you know are BS. Highlight the sender to see where it came from first  & 9 /10 of the time, it will be some crazy address so you know it’s a scam., Trash it immediately. Opening up unknown li...
After years of separates, I'm going integrated. Anyone else do the same?
I went to a Rogers High Fidelity Tubed Integrated Amp, model EFH 200 Mark II. Without a direct comparison in the same system & room, there’s really no way to tell how just how really good it is but it’s REALLY good! Lots of power, best bass I’...
I met this guy in a hotel room....
That may be so but just because a speaker can produce quite low frequency tones doesn't necessarily mean it can produce realistic bass notes from a bass guitar,  bass drum, kettle drum etc in a a tight, dynamic fashion at any decent volume in any ...
I met this guy in a hotel room....
Smaller two way speakers in a small room may net good bass response at moderate volumes.  I do not see how it’s possible in larger rooms or at louder volumes without either big woofers or multiple medium sized ones. I doubt anyone has ever heard t...
