Red Rose Tube Amp repair in Seattle area
@roxy54 You may have Red Rose confused with another brand. Red Rose was Mark Levinson's brand prior to that it was AudioPrism Both iterations of the brand were made in the USA. I used to own an Audioprism Mantissa preamp.
Is this an right time to buy hifi?
@onhwy61 well said indeed! And it's as good a time as any to buy gear if you can afford it.
Are "vintage" DAC's worthwhile, or is this a tech that does not age well
I am listening to a Dac built in 1995 and it sounds sublime. There's a lot more to Dacs than the latest digital technology.
Gripped By Upgrade Fever
Get into your new room before you do anything. Also don't assume that floorstanding speakers will be an upgrade over standmounts.
3D lifelike sound and impeccable measurements - mutually exclusive???
I can't imagine sitting listening to a great immersive 3D sounding system and then worrying about whether it measures well or not.
Speaker cable recommendations for DeVORE FIDELITY
I would recommend Auditorium23 for sure pricing should be in the neighborhood of $1000-1200.  And they come up used from time to time.
What do you have on order RIGHT NOW.
A quad of Genalex Gold Lion KT77s coming from Seattle, should be here next week. Ha just checked tracking will be here tomorrow.
Ready, set, comment! Speaker cables don’t make a difference?
I will say this though speaker cables do make a difference to me they make the least difference of all the cable types.
How loud are you typically listening?
In a small apartment here and perforce I sit fairly close so 60-75db typically and that's plenty loud.
One Cord To Rule Them All
+1 on VH Audio but I also agree there seems little point putting a better power cable on a regenrator. What comes in is not what goes out regardless of the cable used.
My dog gets to enjoy my system mor than i do
If your dog is turning your system on whilst you’re at work you have more serious concerns and/or possibilities than her listening to it.
What is the average life expectancy of a DAC?
Dacs can last a very long time. There are no moving parts and it doesn't generate very much heat and not much to wear out. I am currently listening to a Dac that was built in 1995, it works flawlessly and sounds great. Even tubed Dacs like mine do...
Help me complete my stereo system (Harbeth, ClearAudio Concept).
I have heard the Synthesis gear Larry recommends with Harbeth also at Deja Vu and it's an excellent combo. And definitely call Vu I will attest he gives great advice and won't try to sell you on anything that's not right for your system.
