| B&W 801 s 3 or???? If you're looking for presence get a tubed preamp. I'm serious, you'll frankly be astonished at the difference, music seems to really project from the speakers when using one. | |
| Will a transformer, 220 to 100v, ruin the sound? I was told by Tom Tutay, a well respected tube amp tech, that a step up or step down transformer would better isolate the piece of equipment in question from the ac line and would thus be a good thing. I never tried it so I don't really know. | |

| What wire config for tri-wired speakers? I'll second Spencer's recommendation, I currently own tri-wired Alons and use the Alon Black Orpheus cable to excellent effect. I would characterize it as being quite neutral. As an added bonus it is very flexible and easy to work with. Good luck! | |
