jbl k2s9800 seg wood grain keep or sell? Jbl_user,How about a little info on Viola? Dimly in my memory I remember something about it being a post Cello endeavour put together by ex-Cello employees. Is that correct? I have to say it's not a brand you hear about at all, I'm assuming the el...
jbl k2s9800 seg wood grain keep or sell? Jbl_user,Good response! I read a rave review of these speakers in HiFi+ magazine a while back and it really piqued my interest. I hadn't really considered JBL in the context of high end sound but I was obviously wrong. Just wondering have you trie...
Best Live Phish CDs Hey did any of you guys go to Coventry? I went and though some fun was had it was one of the roughest experiences of my life! Ah well, it's what we do for bands we love right?
best used 2 channel preamp for under $2500 Stereo1972,Be sure to check out the thread "preamp deal of the century" which will give you all the info on the Supratek Syrah you would ever need. Good luck and have fun!
Best Live Phish CDs For sound quality I really like 8/13/96 from Deer Creek. One of the best sounding live discs I've heard and two solid jammin sets. In my opiinion Phish was really at their peak from '92-'96 so discs from that time period should really shine. I'm a...
Great buys on new blues vinyl Patrick,Thanks for the very cool link! By the way, the Supratek is back from the shop and sounding sweet. Now all I need is a new analog rig and I'm set. Hey sorry, didn't mean to hijack your thread, feel free to reply with an email. Cheers!
best used 2 channel preamp for under $2500 For about $2500 keep your eyes peeled for a Supratek Syrah. I picked one up for $2500 on the nose and couldn't be happier. A great sounding tubed preamp with a fantastic phono stage to boot. On top of all the it's a piece of audio sculpture as well.
B&W 801 s 3 or???? Paul,I would suggest a Supratek Chenin, formerly called the Syrah. There is a thread on this site called "Preamp Deal of the Century" that will tell you all about it. I just picked up the Syrah and I now feel I'm set in the preamp department for a...

jbl k2s9800 seg wood grain keep or sell? As I said that speaker deserves a great amp. For now do yourself a favor and get a value priced tube amp, something like a Cary Rocket 88 or a C-J MV60. If you search this site you will find one or both in your price range. Forget about HK or JBL ...
jbl k2s9800 seg wood grain keep or sell? You have a pretty fabulous pair of speakers there, judging from reviews I've read, and you're powering it with a mass-market reciever. I'm not surprised it doesn't sound good, $27K speakers deserve a world class amplifier. Now I don't know the spe...

Preamp with near-reference quality built in phono? Don't forget Supratek! The Chenin, formerly Syrah, is a giant killer with a killer MC phono stage at $2900. If you want to spend more the next level up is the Cortese at about $5K. I can't imagine how good that must be given how fabulous my Syrah ...
Imaging/Soundstaging - Does room size matter? Looking at the photo of your system setup your speaker positioning seems like it should give you pretty good imaging. It might be time to look at your gear also, though speaker placement is the number one factor in imaging I think some gear just i...
Newbi seeking advise - why tubed pre-amp? Well a lot of us think that tubes, whether they be in a preamp, amp, or dac, don't necessarily add colorations or distortions. Personally I think a well executed tube circuit, a la my Supratek preamp or Cary amps, is inherently more linear than SS... |
