Problems with blown fuses on Conrad CAV 50 ? Blown fuses are very common in c-j gear when it's time to change the tubes. Just pick up a new set and you'll stop buying fuses. Happy listening!
Audio Debt? Well I don't know about you guys, but I'm waiting for the branded Audiogon credit card so I can max it out!

Out of curiosity, where does everyone live? I think the thread is called "where are you" and it's about 30 pages long. Anyway I'm in DC, downtown.
best preamp ever - cost is no object If cost is no object then a travel budget shouldn't be either. You need to get out and listen to all of the preamps that interest you, no matter where they might be. Remember it's a process to be enjoyed every bit as much as the result. Have fun a...

Kimber Select 1021 vs Nordost Red Dawn I assume that you mean you use Red Dawn for your DAC to Preamp connection? I also use Red Dawn for CD player to preamp and also preamp to amp. Using tube gear I love the sound, the extra speed and transparency of Nordost is a great match to the wa...

dac reccomendation - xlr & tube optional Bigkidz is correct, my Tube Technology Fusion CD64 player uses the Chord 64 bit WTA Dac married to an all discrete tubed analog output stage. It's by far the best cd player I've ever owned. Also it has BNC digital ins and outs so it can be used as...
starting from just about scratch w/ $600 to spend I agree with the vintage Thorens route, you can get a nice one totally set up for around $200-250, and then a used Bellari Rolls tube phono stage for just under $200 used. Then the rest of your budget can go to records or maybe a Nitty Gritty reco... |
