what is the purpose of a stereo system ? Actually Pawlowski6132 I never said that there aren't different levels of quality in sound reproduction. Obviously a Porsche and a Hyundai do the same basic thing, but do it very differently. Similarly a high end system allows you to listen to mus...
Best for Least: Power strip, what's best? I second the Wiremold. In my system it replaced a Chang Lightspeed CLS3200 and it was an improvement. Not bad for around 50 bucks.
Suggestions on used CD Player with Volume Control Keep an eye out for a used Wadia 830. They sell quickly but they're usually around $1800 or so. If you could stretch to about $2500 you might find a used Resolution Audio Opus 21, an excellent player. Also there are occasionally older Accuphase pl...
what is the purpose of a stereo system ? To listen to and enjoy music. That's it, nothing more and nothing less. Thinking about it too much can rob music of it's joy and pleasure so be careful.
Has anyone used Nordost interconnects I also have Red Dawn cables, interconnects only, and enjoy them very much. My system is all tubed though, I'm not sure the match would be as good with all SS gear, but it might be worth a try. Buy a set used then if you dislike it you can just fli...
Is AES/EBU digital cable/connection all that? See if you can borrow an AES/EBU cable to test it out. At the very least pick up the cable used so you can just flip it if you don't like the sound. If you don't try it you'll always be wondering, but it's certainly not gauranteed to be better tha...
Help with $6k - $7k amplifier setup From everything I've read your speakers love tubes and are easy to drive. I would certainly say go with tubed seperates, there are many great deals on here for amps and preamps. Based on recent ads with your budget I'd pick up a used Herron VTSP-1...
HIGH RESOLUTION PICTURES Umaasa,I have to say your pics look pretty good to me, certainly a lot better than mine. You should email Larry at High End Palace, he advertses on here a lot and his photos are amazing. I'm sure he'd have some tips. Good luck!
is there a current production 20 bit cd player ? The troll strikes again!! He doesn't want 24 bits because then it might sound too good!! Actually Eldartford is right, redbook cd maxes out at 16 bits in reality, anything else is upsampling and marketing.
Have you noticed that Nope. I can't say that I've really noticed any of that.
Anyone seen or heard new Thiel CS3.7 No but I have to admit in pics it looks hideously tacky!
CDP clicks between tracks.and at the begininning?? Mitchb,A new version of the same player?
which cowboy junkies cd? The newest one is excellent too; Early 21st Century Blues. That and the Trinity Sessions are their two best releases in my opinion. Trinity Sessions is an audiophile favorite for the incredible sound quality, 21st Century isn't in the same league ...
Advice on aging Krell CD player Check with Krell and if it's cost effective to fix it then fix it. If not then I'd say time to move on, there are tons of great cd players out right now, in a variety of price ranges.
Tube pre- or amp: does it matter? I also suggest starting with a tubed preamp. I think that the preamp exerts the greatest influence on sound quality. Also they're cheap and fun to tube roll. Enjoy checking out different preamps, I own and love my Herron and also recommend Joule E... |
