high power tube amps vs ss
Woah guys, I think my last post was somewhat misinterpreted. First of all by ignorant I just meant ignorant of NOS tubes which I basically am, so I was not being defensive nor did I take offense at anyone's comments. I am sure I could easily be sp...

Schubert point taken and the reverse holds true as well. Maybe I am satisfied because I have really not delved into NOS tubes and so don't know enough not to be satisfied. I concede that is entirely possible but I am happy, and less broke, in my i...

I will have to disagree with Schubert on EL34's, at least in my amp and my system I have had good success with both Electo-Harmonix tubes and the Mullard reissues. Both cost much closer to $100 a quad then $3-500. Of course my amp is not high powe...
Steve Earle
Well that sounds pretty nice then, I hope he lives a good long time and gets to watch his kid grow up.

Wow that is truly sad man and kind of out of place for a concert. But I guess he is just that kind of guy everything in his life and on his mind is right out there. That is why I prefer my musicians to if possible never speak i.e. The Grateful Dea...
Better sounding after 1 hour
I would agree with Elizabeth but also slightly disagree I think this effect is more noticeable with tubes after about 30-60 mins. At least it has been and continues to be with my gear and gear I have owned previously.
Music suddenly sounds wrong, no dynamics
Sorry but what does 'lamps may fall out at times mean'? Sounds to me like it might be gravitational and not electrical.

Hey man I'm glad and sorry given the brevity and obvious enthusiasm of your post I couldn't resist. Big Steve Earle fan also, though I find live he can get a bit full of himself and his politics.

Um, have fun. And thanks for sharing, I was wondering what you were up to tonight.
Cars. What does the typical audiophile drive?
Still driving my 2003 Passat just 89K miles and for the last year or so paid off! Making it my ultimate fantasy car! Seriously though still fun to drive and it's been super reliable. Best purchase I have ever made, non-audio category.
Best drink while listening to your rig?
Craft American Gin, Jack Rudy Tonic syrup, club soda and ice!
Top 10 Alt-country bands
Loomisjohnson my pleasure and glad you liked him! I would agree he is not quite alt-country but also not quite rockabilly that was what really pulled me in the freshness of his sound. A bit of Queen and Leon Russell in there as well.

Son Volt is on the list folks at no 2, sharing the spot with Wilco which is kind of a joke. Also Whiskeytown? Ugh. Ryan Adams needs to just please go away.
RF in the home - Fact or Fiction?
If you don't believe it do what i did accidentally. I left a pair of interconnects hooked up to my preamp but nothing else. I was trying to track down what bad tube in my system was causing the static and found them, disconnected them and problem ...
Top 10 Alt-country bands
I agree good list though I would personally have the Old97's higher and Wilco lower. For an awesome newcomer to the genre check out J Roddy Wallston and the Business out of Baltimore. The debut album from a few years ago is off the charts good.
