Amps-Cables for Focal 1007 BE JMlabs are quite easy to drive and love tubes. Tubes should help tame any glare and brightness. I am currently running a pair of original Micro-Utopias with a 24 watt tube amp and they sound fantastic. A quality tube amp from 10-50 watts should be...
Tube technology Fusion Cd64 any good? I own one and love it. I haven't compared it to any of the players you list, but in my system in easily outperformed a Cary 303/200, and a Copland 289. It is incredibly organic and lifelike in it's sound, with first class imaging, a really refined...
Coda Still Alive?? Ferrari,I just went on the Coda website with no problems at all. Give it another try, or maybe it's a browser issue?
Golden Tube SE 40 Hiss and Pop problem - Thoughts? It absolutely sounds like a failing tube. Either do as Newbee has suggested or drop in replacements if you have them. It's always a good idea with a tube amp to have a set of backup output tubes around, since tubes always seem to go bad on weekend...
tube power amp for my thiels cs6 speakers As already mentioned the higher powered VTL's are a good choice also consider conrad-johnson, used Premier 12's or P 8's would work well. Their current models would work also but might not fit your budget. Good luck and happy listening!
Surge Protection... We live in an apartment in DC and were having issues with surges due to line work the city was doing. For about $250 we had an electrician install a whole house surge protector right at the fuse box and all problems stopped. Plus the peace of mind...
Recommendation for vacuum tube CD-player I own a Tube Technology Fusion CD64 and think it's one of the best cdp's out there for under $10K. The company went under but they come up occasionally in the $1500-$2000 range used, new they were $4K. The technology is the same dac as the famed C...
Help with a total system upgrade. I used to own a Graff GM5050, not the integrated but the straight power amp. It was a nice amp, good sound, great looks, but definitely suffered from reliability issues. I eventually traded it into Deja Vu Audio for my current amp, a Deja Vu stere...
Best redbook CD player They don't come up often but the Tube Technology Fusion CD64 is an amazing player, I own and love one. It marries the amazing WTA dac from the Chord DAC64 to a discrete tubed analog output stage. I read a rave in HiFi+, took the plunge and couldn'...
Into 2009; What rules?? Tubes or Solid State I love tubes! Great sound and not nearly the hassle folks say they are. Try it and you'll be hooked! Happy listening!
Marantz vs Mcintosh If you want the music to sound "more real" try tubes, Mcintosh, Marantz, or other. I find that nothing sounds more lifelike than a good tubed amp/preamp combo. Happy listening!
which amp is the most transparent? Congratulations, it sounds like you have a system you are happy with, enjoy! That leaves us with the title of your post, a question that is never fully clarified in the body of your post. Which amp? Transparent compared to what? Please explain fur...
Personal amp evolution Crap, wrong thread! Sorry Streetdaddy, hope you had a great holiday!
Personal amp evolution Streetdaddy,I think you listed a bunch of amps in a preamp evo thread. You might want to give it another try. Happy Thanksgiving!
good music/poor recording, bad music excellent You're kidding right? Why listen to bad music no matter how good it sounds? Of course everyone's definition of "bad" is different, but I buy discs for the music on them, good or great sound is a bonus. |
