Speakers to hang on to for LIFE Wow I can't believe I never saw this thread before! Anyway I picked up my current speakers, the original version of the JMlabs Micro-Utopia back in 2006. We had just bought our condo and it was quite smaller than our previous place so I traded a g...
Preamp/ amp repair recommendations in S. Fla? Tom Tutay is, or used to be in Fort Walton Beach FL, don't know what part of FL that is sorry, but Tom is an outstanding tech that specializes in tubed gear. The company is called Transition Audio Designs.
Compressing Music Files For Thumb Drive In Car db Poweramp is a great file conversion program, I usually use it to rip discs to flac but pretty sure you can rip flacs to MP3's and other files as well. Google it there's a ton of info or do a search here it's been discussed quite a bit.
Is very good DAC a waste with Sonos Connect? Perhaps focus less on technology and more on sound quality? To wit my Sonos feeds a decidedly low-tech Yamamoto YDA-1 dac with to me really stunning results. So yes a dac will improve your Sonos just don't necessarily buy by specs or numbers.
Squeezebox/Roku Modern Equivalents? I had a Squeezebox Duet and moved to a Sonos Connect and I much prefer the Sonos. Easier interface, less buggy, and more choices for music. Hooked on streaming Tidal through my Sonos and it sounds great feeding my Yamamoto dac.
Spotify or Pandora I second Tidal I had Spotify and was unhappy with the sound quality, Tidal made a night and day difference. Pandora I just use occasionally for background music not serious listening.
Genalex Gold Lion KT-77 Compatibility Question Thanks for all the responses I will drop by and see Vu I just thought this issue might be more tube related since it only occurs with the KT-77s and no other tubes. If it's a difference in channel bias on the amp why haven't I had an issue with ei...
Genalex Gold Lion KT-77 Compatibility Question It's Deja Vu push-pull amp and you can't adjust the bias not sure if its fixed or self adjusting.

Sound Advice: 'Cost no object' on audio gear? So did anyone actually read the piece? He was very reasonably pointing out to someone that cost no object means different things to different people. Additionally he told the questioner what a more appropriate price range might be for his speakers...
Tidal vs. Spotify Based on this thread and my increasing frustration with the poor sound quality of Spotify through my Sonos I just signed up for Tidal and downloaded it and set it up on my Sonos. From the first few notes I heard, to borrow a phrase from the kids, ...
Audiophile Fakery Tom32 I didn't mean to imply that frequency contouring was easy to do, just in the context of this thread vs add on doodads and such. Meaning it's a relatively commonplace alteration. I'm sure like all aspects of speaker design it's quite complex.
Balance control. Discuss. It's also incredibly useful for quick channel balance checks.
Spendor A9- best connection on BAT VK 55? Fishers9 try them both and see which you think sounds better.
Audiophile Fakery How about the very simple, and I guess generally accepted, frequency contouring of speakers? An upper midrange bump for more "detail" same thing in the upper bass for more "bass", etc. |
