Your experience as Yamamoto owner?
The 6moons review is here very extensive with great pics:http://www.6moons.com/audioreviews/yamamoto2/45_2.htmlAnd the link I sent you earlier was from the German importers website which is quite good. The previous US importer was I believe Venus ...
Dolby NR encoding - did it ever work
I don't use tapes anymore but as a Deadhead back in the day it took just a few experiences with Dolby NR to never use it. It just quashed dynamics and took the life out of recordings, "stepped on" was how I used to describe them. The one proviso t...
Your experience as Yamamoto owner?
Hi Lewinskih01,This may not be terribly helpful as I don't own one of their amps but I'm a more than pleased owner of the YDA-1 DAC a gorgeous and fantastic sounding piece of equipment. Regarding the amps sorry to hear that your inquiries were not...
Rowland's new integrated amp
So just curious in what situation would you need 1500-2500 watts? I ask this legitimately I can't imagine any situation where you could come even close to max power. Or really even 1/3 to 1/2 of max power.
Solid state power + tube pre or visa versa?
So quite obviously "the way to go" or "preferred combo" is whatever sounds best not someones oft repeated dogma. You're off to a great start just keeping an open mind, one thing I would suggest is just don't be afraid to get it wrong. It's the jou...
Virtual System updating problems. Anyone else?
I like Al also corresponded with Audiogon during Beta testing of the new systems and forums and just want to say I found the staff to be very responsive and eager to hear and respond to feedback. The new format for systems is very easy to use and ...
Virtual System updating problems. Anyone else?
FYI the new Virtual Systems page is here:https://systems.audiogon.com/The new format is very user friendly I think they did a great job with the update.
Was this Miles Davis Steamin LP a rare find?
Mono is the way to go love it! Especially versus early stereo recordings! Even digitally mono rocks.
What's your profession? Age?
How weird I was listening to a live, 45 minute, version of Pink Floyd's echoes from 1971 over the weekend speaking of albatrosses. Or would the plural simply be albatross? Hmmm.....
Funniest Quote About Your Audio "Affliction"
Albert thanks for the heads up just joined What's Best and listed you as the referrer. And of course my lame-ass username from here was available :)
What is the difference between McIntosh MC275
There is this thread:http://forum.audiogon.com/cgi-bin/fr.pl?aamps&1384657026&read&keyw&zzmc275And I feel like there was another on this exact topic very recently but couldn't find the thread. Do some searching though the info is h...
Need Help with CD/DAC setup
Yes that is correct Mark the only reason to use the digital outs is to send a pure digital signal to a separate decoder of some sort. Otherwise your unit outputs the cd your playing or the cd in the Wadia through the analog outputs.
Does anyone else think this
Nope sitting here thinking how good Miles Davis is sounding and wondering what's made you so grim this evening my friend? I say either have a drink......or stop drinking, but whatever you do stop thinking so damn much!
Audio stores in N. Virginia?
Yage I concur with you also on Gifted Listener. I used to live out in Reston and bought my first system from there a Bryston B-60 and Rega Planet combo. Tom Unger is a very nice guy and its a nice store for more mainstream SS stuff.
How important is bass to you?
This prompted me to run some Bass test tones through my system, JMlabs original Micro-Utopia and suffice it to say I was pleasantly surprised to hear usable output into the upper 30's. No wonder I don't feel like I'm missing much with my speakers ...
