Tung-Sol EL-34B vs Genalex Gold Lion KT77 for Cayin A100T Integrated Tube Amplifier
If the stock tubes are bright and thin sounding, would suggest you try psvane gray glass EL34s. Very musical, with an open and airy top end. they have become my favorite EL34 tube.
Prima Luna Integrated - EL34, KT88, KT150, Brimar AU - My experience
try a set of the PSVANE gray glass KT88s. is now my fav tube; super musical. best
advice for warming up phono sound
the harshness is likely coming from your phono pre. if you are a DIYer you can replace those red wima caps with Nichicon XY series, much better sounding cap. If not a DIYer, then would suggest looking for a diff phono pre.
DEDICATED CD PLAYER $1K AND UNDER, THOUGHTS?
would agree with Kalali,,,,Have two of the denafrips DACs...have never had better digital sound in my system. will blow away the stock dac chip set in your CD player. don't waste your money on another CD player....for a similar sonic experience......
Looking for a better preamp match for AT OC-9/III
think you may be missing a few db of gain without the active preamp...the phono stage likely wont put out enough current to drive the amp quietly...I have the OC-9III as well as the AT 1000, a benz LPS, and a few other LOMCs....I have tried severa...
what is the best Kt88 to get
PSVANE Gray Glass KT88s are the best I have tried. Even out do NOS RCA/Tungsol 6550s, GE 6550s  and all of the Russian Re-issue tubes.
audio technicca at15s
both are still a nice cart. I have one of each, both of which I bought new back  in the day....but I have gone to the dark side of LOMC carts, and think that is now the way to go if you have a step up device or a really quiet phono pre stage that ...
Anyone try KT150 in Primaluna Dialogue Premium HP
would partially agree with samzx12, the KT150s have a nice midrange, but that all changes if you replace the stock coupling caps. Put in some copper foil caps and the KT-120s lose any harshness they have. but with copper foil caps, my fav tube in ...
Inexpensive Tube Amps
Will62,followed this post from a week or so ago. I have bought quite a few of the chinese amps, more out of curiosity than anything else. Most are very musical and offer a lot of value for the money. So Last week, decided to order a Gentune verion...
Question for tube aficionados
I owned the PV5, PV8, PV11 and PV12 over the years. Going from memory, seems the later versions starved the tubes a bit. before you start serious tube rolling, may want to measure the plate and cathode voltages and see what there are, then calcula...
Tube Preamps.....
Pretty simple choice. 1. Primaluna Prologue prem tube pre amp. 2. Denafrips Ares DAC. The two items will come in just under your budget. The Ares is a giant killer of a DAC.
Inexpensive Tube Amps
" I want to try one just to see how the sound compares to my Yamaha and Denon solid states."the nobsound will sonically blow away your solid state gear, if you have very efficient speakers. If not these SE amps will run out of headroom pretty fast...
When to recap a late nineties Krell Kav 250 A.
pivetta, why not buy a Peak cap checker and measure the existing caps in your amp. Rather than relying on opinion, will give you hard data for each cap on capacitance value, and ESR.....once you have that data, then it will be an automatic and val...
Primaluna Dialogue poremium, Rogue Cronus Magnum II or Jolida 801...who can advise me?
Bruce in Philly pretty well covered it. You're not taking a plunge you are coming over to amps that have a much greater hold of keeping your rear glued in the listening chair......best of luck....
Question for tube aficionados
I used to have both the PV11 and PV12. NOS tubes did sound better, but if memory serves, seem to recall in both preamps the tubes were run in a current starved condition. You may want to measure the current/voltage flow through the tube. I dropped...
