Decent preamp The Audible Illusions M3 worked very well for me when I had the Aragon amp. The Aragon 24K was good as well.
What is the best solid state amplifier you have ever heard? Carver Lightstar Reference Amplifier
Are manufacturer AC cables good enough? I have tried numerous power cables including AudioQuest, ESP, Shunyata and a few others on the Aesthetix Mimas integrated amplifier and none of them were any better than the stock power cord from Aesthetix. In fact, they all negatively impacted th...
Well, I decided to get an Audio Illusion M 3A You might want to reach out to Johnny Rutan at the Audio Connection in NJ. I remember he used to get pretty good results with the AI pre and a Belles amplifier with Vandersteen's. I don't remember which one but he really knows how to make Vanderst...
My Ayre AX-7e Integrated amp vs. an upgrade to the Ayre EX-8 Integrated amplifier I had the EX-8 on an extended loan in my system for three weeks and it never got any hotter than my Ayre Codex. I had the amp inside my Salamander SYNERGY MODEL 323 Rack which has sides and doors. The unit was on the entire time.It sounded much be...
Integrated advice for B&W 705's My dealer recommends Rotel to go with B&W speakers. Before Primare changed to Class D amps he used to recommend them with B&W as well. If you can find a Primare i30 in your price range I would say it's a great match. Good Luck!
Has anyone else auditioned something that really was terrible? The worst system I ever heard was at a friends house. Before I tell the story, I'm a firm believer that we all hear things differently. Because I don't like it doesn't mean it's a bad product or that I'm right and others with differing opinions ar...
Power Amplifiers I still have a Carver Lightstar Direct Preamplifier and Reference Amplifier that I take out occasionally and use in my system. Before I sold my house I had room for a second system and used it with a pair of Martin Logan Aerius speakers. They driv...
Audio Connection/Johnny Rutan Another happy Audio Connection customer. I met John in 1994 when I moved from NYC to Maplewood. Before John my audio dealer was Andy Singer. Honestly I got along well with Andy but John was so much more interested in helping me get the sound I wan...

NYC/NJ Turntable Setup Expert Call Nick at the Audio Connection in Verona, NJ. He is Johnny R’s vinyl guy and has set up my turntables since 1995. He has a few of the Hana cartridges on display for demo.Good Luck!
Hunting Unicorns I have been using the Aurender N100H for a few years now and I use, and like, the iPad Air for running the remote app. It also supports streaming of some internet radio stations (18). If I were looking to buy a new Aurender I would go with the ACS...
Aesthetix Pallene Tommy, I'm sure you will love the Atlas on your speakers. One of the best amp/speaker combos I have heard! Good Luck!

Aesthetix Pallene I suggest calling John Rutan at Audio Connection in Verona, NJ. He has sold at least one of them. The unit is basically the preamp section from the Mimas Integrated amp and is supposed to be in the same chassis as the Mimas. Good Luck! |
