Duelund DCA16GA
@mitch2 Thank you for the very informative post. It’s greatly appreciated.
advice for my clear audio analogue upgrade path
Sorry about that! Good Luck with whatever you do. You might want to talk to Garth Leerer at Musical Surroundings. I find him to offer great advice and he might be more objective about this than me.
advice for my clear audio analogue upgrade path
Yes it was the Clarify Arm and AMG Teatro cartridge on both. I own the AMG cartridge also.
advice for my clear audio analogue upgrade path
I just recently compared the Performance DC, which I own, with the Ovation and the Ovation was dramatically better in every way. If I could afford it I would definitely buy one. Should you go that way I expect you would be very happy for a long ti...
Duelund DCA16GA
@mitch2 Curious where you found the info on constructing a set of balanced cables using the Duelund cable? I am using the 16ga for speaker cables but not for interconnects as my system needs balanced interconnects. I am not that handy when it come...
Upgrade from clearaudio concept MC cart
My sense of the Charisma is that it is more refined than the Maestro but my experience with the Maestro is limited to demos in my dealers showroom so I cannot really articulate the differences between them. It’s also been at least 3 years since I ...
Upgrade from clearaudio concept MC cart
I heard the Charisma at the Musical Surroundings event at the Audio Connection late last year. It was mounted to the new Clearaudio Concept Black with Satisfy tonearm and used with the Nova II into an Ayre system with Vandersteen 5A Carbon’s. Agai...
Upgrade from clearaudio concept MC cart
You might want to look at the Clearaudio Talisman cartridge as well. It’s a MC cartridge but a major improvement over the Concept MC. I found it to be better than the Benz Glider that I owned for many years, at least in my system. YMMV
Vandersteen Seminar at Audio Connection (NJ)
I also attended the event. I thought the 7's powered by the Vandersteen amps sounded the best I have heard them. They truly disappear in the room.Nick played some great music and I lust after that AMG turntable. At around $18K-$20K it's way out of...
Vandersteen Treo Speaker Cable Suggestions
I would recommend Audioquest Castle Rock speaker cables. They sound great on the Treo's and Quatro's. I would suggest trying them before you buy though. I have observed that Audioquest speaker cables sound best when you use their interconnects as ...
Best Preamp for Ayre Acoustics CX-7eMP?
You might want to try the Aesthetix Calypso which is a great sounding preamp. The only question is whether your amp has balanced inputs. All of the Ayre gear is designed to perform best using balanced connections. Same with the Aesthetix gear. Goo...
Vandersteen fans..need your input (TREO CT)
Just a quick question, do you have carpeting or area rug in the room? If not you may want to add one. I have found that no speaker sounds good at low volumes if you haven't addressed that first bounce reflection from the floor. If you do have a ru...
Biwire Cables for Vandersteen 2CE Signatures
Audioquest will make a double run of their cables for you, with DBS, if the cable you want uses it.  Check with your dealer or if you don’t have one, talk to John Rutan at the Audio Connection in Verona, NJ. John is one of the most knowledgeable V...
Switching to solid state amp?
I owned Quicksilver V-4 mono blocks for 10 years in my system which was based around Vandersteen speakers, 5's and Quatro's. I switched to the Aesthetix Atlas from the V-4's and was very happy. If you can hear the Aesthetix I think you may find wh...
Harbeth M30.1 vs B&W CM10 s2
Given what given what you have said you are looking for you have described the sound of the Harbeth SHL5+’s. I am happy owner of the SHL5+’s but I have never heard the B&W CM10’s and can not compare the sound of the two. There are a few pairs ...
