BAT-VK31se or VK-50SE or LS17? I've owned the BAT VK-31SE, VK-50SE and VK-51SE as well as the Audio Research Reference 3. I'm not so sure that I agree the VK-31SE was better than the 50SE. The 31SE was more dynamic and powerful, but the 50SE had a more tube like lush midrange. ...
Do you spend more on audio than your income allows Alright, I'll play, yes, I do spend more than my income allows. I always thought that was part of being an audiophile.... :DI've been in this hobby for about 33 years now, and have downsized a few times for different reasons. In the last 6 months ...
Fed Ex Ground Shipping Woes Tvad, while I do agree with your extreme example, it has been my experience that sellers and buyers can work together to satisfy both. You seem to be stuck on the fact that the buyer can hold both product AND money. I have never found this to be th...
Fed Ex Ground Shipping Woes AFAIK, the buyer is NEVER left with the product AND the money. I've had a couple of these experiences from both sides, buyer and seller. For me, it's always worked out (knock wood). The buyer holds the package for the shipping company to come and ...
Fed Ex Ground Shipping Woes The person who purchased the shipping insurance (normally the shipper) is the screwee. This is from the Sellers rules in the Audiogon policy guidelines:What if an item is damaged in shipping? If an item is damaged in shipping, the seller should con...
Shunyata's Hydra 8 Version 2 vs V-Ray version 1 I asked this question of Grant Samualson of Shunyata. If I recall correctly, Grant said it would be a close call, but he felt the Hydra 8 V2 would sound better.Cheers,John
Anyone tried the K2HD mastering CDs? I own the K2HD sampler, and it is very good. However, I can't really judge the whole K2HD catalog, as I find SACD slighly superior, and less costly. It depends on how much you want to spend for high quality digital.Cheers,John
Down grading with better /= sound I have downgraded several times in the last 30+ years. Though I cannot say that I got better sound, I can say that I have gotten pretty damn close for a lot less money.I'm very happy with my current system, and I've pulled over $20K out of my syst...
What is your routine for break-in of cd player I agree with Foster_9, though I would say that 24-48 hours spinning the Ayre/Cardas burn in cd should be sufficient.Cheers,John
Any VAC CPA-1 preamp owners here? Rick,Yes, the reason most folks come here to AudiogoN is to buy/sell gear, I agree. However, how else can you explain your comment in the original post? I hope there is some owners out there, my search did not bring up much information.. in fact, t...

How does one get off the merry-go-round? 04-16-09: Mmike84Who wants off the Merry go round?Oh, I don't know....maybe folks that want to save their marriage, family, homes, etc.Cheers,John
Any VAC CPA-1 preamp owners here? 04-19-09: Rich121There must be someone else who is using one of these?Yes, but what are the odds that someone who owns a vintage preamp such as this would also be perusing the threads on AudiogoN? Unfortunately, slim to none. I've found that most ...
Jeff Rowland I second Raquel's comments. IMHO the 2, 6, 8 and 9 were Rowland's best work.
Has Anyone Criticized The Choice Of Your Cables? Oscar44, I see that you are a relatively new member here, but from my experiences, Virtual Dynamics has a very strong following. In fact some feel shy to say anything bad about Virtual Dynamics in my experiences.Personally, I feel that VD cables/c... |
