What determines good distortion?
What I've always heard is that SS produces odd order harmonic distortions (3rd,5th, etc) while tubes produce even order distortions (2nd, 4th, etc). I've also heard that musical instruments produce even order harmonic distortions, which is why mos...
RCA / BALANCED OUTPUT
The easiest option is the XLR/RCA adapter like Elizabeth mentions. I also have an inexpensive pair ($100???) of interconnects that have XLR's on one end and RCA's on the other end. I tend to wind up using the XLR/RCA adapters more, because I don't...
Dynavector XV-1s vs. Transfiguration Temper w
I'm just kind of baffled how people can find something slow & anemic, since these two words derive from opposite directions in my experiences. Things that some refer to as slow in a negative manner, another would refer to as warm or musical in...
Rowland Model 6 monoblocks - my thoughts
Tiff,You may be better served starting a new post in the Speaker forum instead of asking a question about speakers in a 4 year old thread in the Amp Preamps forum.
Recommend a Tube Pre & SS Amp Combo
BAT VK-52SE/ BAT VK-600SE should meet all of your requirements.
Is HD Radio on its last leg?
HD Radio certainly appears to be dying. It looks like it has been replaced by Internet Radio Tuners.

You can upgrade all you want on your end, I'm still only gonna hear it through $5 computer speakers. So what's the point?
Most forgiving high end speaker 10k-20k?
I use the words warm and/or musical in place of more forgiving, but I think the Verity Audio Parsifal Ovations would fit the bill here. They certainly aren't the last word in transparency, but as you have noted, sometimes that can be a blessing. C...
Are High End Audio Products Unreliable?
Charles1dad, Rush wouldn't know any logic if it hit him in the face with a two by four.
Dynavector XV-1s vs. Transfiguration Temper w
I agree with Downunder. Slow, dull and anemic may describe the listener, but certainly not a properly functioning XV-1s. I've owned a Lyra Helikon and it is the fastest, most transparent cartridge I've ever heard. It sounded a bit lean in my syste...

I don't want to be the one to tell you dude, but it sounds like it's coming out of a cheap $5 pair of computer speakers. ;)
Dynavector XV-1s vs. Transfiguration Temper w
Greg, I own a 2500 Signature and I've owned a Dynavector XV-1s mounted on it. I also have a friend who has a 2200 Signature with a Transfiguration Orpheus mounted on it. I would generally agree with what Ptmconsulting has posted. The Dynavector is...

03-03-12: SnackeypSabai, why not name names? You are new here Snackeyp, so I'll tell you why. Naming names will make this thread vanish into the abyss. So what's the point?
