VPI cartridge install f/phase inverting pre
04-02-13: RockyboyIf the owner's only source is a TT, does it matter if the change is made at the cartridge (as VPI instructs) or at the speakers? No, it does not matter, though changing speaker leads is probably easier than changing the cartridge...
When a Reviewer "likes" something
04-01-13: ManituncThose of you who dislike reviewers, and therefore, I assume reviews, how do you find out about a product that you can't audition locally.I wouldn't say that I dislike reviewers or reviews, they just mean nothing to me, whether pr...
Jeff Rowland 2 or Classe 25 for Avalon Eclipse
04-02-13: AspacThank you all for support, All I need is the amp match well with my speakers, so pls tell me which one will you choose?I would choose the JRDG Model 2, it would work fine with the Avalon's in my room with my tastes. However, I do no...
Jeff Rowland 2 or Classe 25 for Avalon Eclipse
The JRDG Model 2 is 75 wpc, the Classe 25 is 250 wpc. If you need the power, the Classe is your answer. Otherwise, the JRDG Model 2 sounds better within it's power constraints. The Classe will play about 5 dB louder though.Typical quantity vs. qua...
Klyne 6PE: comments ?
As an ARC fan, maybe the Klyne is not for you. I've owned a ARC Ref 3 preamp, and it was a bit thin for my tastes, though very detailed. I prefer more of the VAC tube sound. You might prefer the Walker Audio phono preamp, that is the most revealin...
Parallel? How do you set the VTA?
Well I actually do own a small bubble level that is designed for photography. However, I don't use it much anymore, as it helped me realize that my eyeballing is good enough for VTA. That must be one plus from all of the mechanical work I've done ...
Klyne 6PE: comments ?
Dynamics and detail are very good, but they are not what sets the Klyne apart from the rest. It's the microdynamics, or inner detail in the midrange that stands out and has more tube like midrange resolution. I have owned phono stages with more de...
Yak, Yak, Yak......and more yak.....
Thank you! That's the pep talk I needed!! ;)
Who Will Stand the Test of Time?
@Brownsfan, you evolution like this? LOL!!!
Parallel? How do you set the VTA?
I check if my tonearm is level by eyeball. I set my VTA by ear. Normally, my arm is not parallel. Parallel usually doesn't sound right to me.
So what's a good preamp?
Well, I sort of agree with Zd542. It would be tough to find a preamp worthy of your amps for under $1500. That being said, I have two suggestions. I do see a Joule Electra LA-100 that is currently for sale on Audiogon for under $1200. There might ...
Who Will Stand the Test of Time?
Well obviously Justin Bieber and Talor Swift immediately come to mind.....
Tom Evans Audio Design is still in business
I've heard that about Tom Evans gear before too, that it is solid state that can please a tube fan. I haven't had the oppotunity to listen to one yet though. Have you heard a Klyne phono stage? I would describe my experience with the Klyne 7PX5.0 ...
Transfiguration Phoenix S or Grado Statement 1?
Well, I can't say that I am familiar with your gear, but if I was in this position, I would jump at the Transfiguration Phoenix S. I have not heard the new S version, but I have heard the Orpheus L and the Phoenix, both are very good cartridges. T...
Clayton M300 or Mcintosh MC601
Well, only you can determine which will be better for your Tyler D1's. I agree with RW that the Mac will hold it's value better, and be easier to find. That being said, I'd go with the Clayton M-300's. Wilson Shen's amps are something special, alm...
