The preferred digital cable for PS Audio gear seems to be the I2S. In terms of value the PS gear was typically sold for 40+% off by the big dealers before they went to direct sales

the current PS Audio Transport, PST, is significantly better than all their previous transports...I have owned the previous 2...all used with the PS Audio Directstream DAC...  
Should I upgrade the cable of my Line Conditioner?
ozzy +1 ... it made a significant difference for me when I used a BPT power conditioner, they actually offered a few different level connector cable options  
How important is it that all cables come from the same manufacturer?
sometimes it's simply how much time we want to spend buying/selling/shipping and listening to different cables...there are so many good brands and models out there...

not necessarily but sometimes...

The Audiolab transport with a Denafrips Ares ll would be much better than the Marantz in my experience...also more than double the cost...both great choices at their prices...

of course no right way...I'm currently preferring stand alone player...good recent success with Rega, Marantz, Yamaha, Primare and I see Rotel has some new CD Players just introduced...also happy with Cambridge CDC Transport and Denafrips Ares ll ...

I think part of the issue is at what point are you better off using the money to buy better speakers (as determined by you)...though if you love your speakers, and don’t want to sell then make them as good as possible...I like the Mapleshade Low M...
