So many great golden era DD tables out there, what do you recommend for $1000? @uber - I am not trying to derail your OP (i apologize if out of line). For anyone needing a stepdown, I highly recommend "Acupwr" brand. I have no vested interest; I own equipment made in Japan and have had great success with the (acupwr) transfo...
Used ARC Ref 75 versus new Pass XA 25 versus new Parasound A21+ Take my suggestion with a grain of salt, however, I own/owned many Pass amps and have had a Ref 75 in my system as well. I have never heard the parasound you mention. I suggest the AR ref 75, you will love it.enjoy,Jose
SS Amp suggestions @johnto - I have considered a Pass 250.5/8. I own two Pass amps (Aleph 3 & 5) I use to power my JBL speakers (L-250, 4343, 4430, & a pair of Everest DD5500); are their sonic similarities between the older Pass gear and newer? @jbrrp1 - ...
Metal cabinet speakers I own vintage speakers, mainly JBL products (monitors); In addition to MBL and Duntech. I heard some YG Sonjas a few weeks ago and was impressed with the quality (natural) sound they delivered. So much so, I contemplated selling some gear and u...
Do you have to be “in the mood?” I remember the days of purchasing and trading up for a better receiver; my humble beginnings. With the passing of time, my gear is much better and the sound more refined. I listen to vinyl, CD, and a tube tuner (MR-67) in no particular order. I...
Sony PS-X9 @petg60 I considered the TTS 8000, but was impressed by the Final Audio Lab research VTT-1, and thus bought it. Eventually, I will get rid of the other Tables mentioned. Believe it or not, the Basis and Verdier are good sound tables. One can...
Sony PS-X9 @lewm - my wife and I had dinner with him (Doug Hurlburt of DSA); a generous and respectful person. I must say, to my ears the DSA audio room was one of the best sounding of the show, Michael Fremer spent much time there. I would have loved to ha...

Step down transformers detrimental to SQ? +1 on the Accupower.I bought one and am pleased with it. In the event you purchase one, I suggest you opt for one which allows for future growth.Regards,Jose
Sony PS-X9 Gentlemen, I will have to start a new thread. However, I have received my "Final Lab VTT-1 reference ". It must weigh 70lbs, maybe more, It is a thing of beauty! How do I post a picture here??
Sony PS-X9 @uber. Did you buy the TT from Yahoo auctions??Well to scratch my itch, I bought a Verdier. I also bought a 3 arm capable Final audio research VTT-1.I'm sure in the near future a PS X9 or Dennon will come my way. Jose
Sony PS-X9 @ct0517 thank you, PM sent.I don't care to modify, much less park it. Gentlemen, I have had a modest technics 1200 for 30 years...just looking for a cool (beauty is in the eye of the beholder), good sounding TT with some collectability value.I ap...
Sony PS-X9 @lewm No worries. No offense taken. On that note (direct drive) there are nice examples readily available, I've considered. My experience is limited and thus defer to the experience of you fine members. Jose
Sony PS-X9 Within exchanged emails (5) with "aledo", I was constantly reminded of size/weight restrictions...thus my apprehension. I didn't want to pay for something and no way of getting it home. The other stated issue, were the shipping charges.I bought...
Sony PS-X9 I did not participate in the bidding (yahoo Japan). Aledo states, Japan Post has size and weight restrictions, the TT exceeds all the restrictions.Currently, I am looking at a Plantine Verdier. Opinions??Jose |
