Krell KAS amplifier hum Al, thank you for such a lengthy explanation. I plugged EVERYTHING as before, with one exception, there is a "ground cheater " between the pre and power distributor. The hum is 50% less than first posted.I tried both amps on the same outlet - no ...
Krell KAS amplifier hum Update - the pre is plugged into a common 15A outlet; the amps are plugged into a dedicated 20A outlet and ALL else is unplugged. I still hear the same amount of hum.I installed a "cheater plug" between the pre and wall outlet, I hear less hum t...
Krell KAS amplifier hum @jea48 - the cable line plug is a wall-wart and does not have a ground pin. It is not tied (a part of) the sound system. I'm not sure when i first heard it...you see, I'm alternating amplifiers (also use ML 33H) and did not pay it much attentio...
Krell KAS amplifier hum Thank you all for taking the time. After my first failed attempt last night, I decided to plug all "in" and listen to music instead :-)Tonight, I will try what has been recommended. Something else I forgot to mention; I have a cable line and box...

Krell KAS amplifier hum Update, I unplugged the 6m long XLR from each amp. Then, I powered on both amps. There was no hum at all. @jea48 All instruments are plugged into a Silver Circle audio, "pure power one 5.0, which is plugged into an existing outlet. Pre = ARC Re...
Krell KAS amplifier hum @ - three-easy-paymentsI believe the hum IS being created by my amps. I am hoping there is a solution available. The hum is only audible when the music is not playing, even at low levels.Thank you,Jose
Krell KAS amplifier hum MBL 111f speakers are not powered. The hum i am hearing is coming out of the speakers once i power on the amplifiers. Therefore, it is the wall outlets or amplifiers that are generating/transferring the hum into the speakers. Can someone recomm...
Pre-amplifier suggestions I'm trying to keep costs below $15K (pre-owned). I was quite happy with the ARC Ref 3, until it was paired with the ML 33H. And so it goes on...Best,Jose
Pre-amplifier suggestions Thank you both for the suggestions. I have reached out to Benchmark and may try one out. I am also going to audition an ARC Ref 6. I own a single-ended CAT SL-1, I need to purchase RCA to XLR adapters in order to use it, as I don't have long R...
Why pay so much? let me get this straight; I work and therefore earn my income and don't have the intelligence, wherewithal to purchase whatever it is I want, audio or otherwise? Some would argue, a "zip cord" used for audio (speaker cables) would be a waste.
Recommend speakers for a large living room Several here have suggested MBL, I concur. I will add, propper amplification IS required. I power mine with an ML 33H amp. someone else has suggested Dunlavy. I have these as well and highly recommend them. MBL can be enjoyed by many as the l...
Active isolation; what can it do for music reproduction? Mike,Thank you for taking the time. Much has been stated in regards to trial and error. I for one value a "narrow answer" from an individual who has experience and first-hand knowledge. Best,Jose
Active isolation; what can it do for music reproduction? @mikelavigne - what other devices have you used to good effect? what would you recomend? For some, the "tables" you are using are cost-prohibitive. respectfully,Jose
I'm not even quite sure how to phrase my question, but here it goes... @61falcon - thank you for asking; I always wondered the same, however, I didn't want to ask... Thank you all who commented/made sense of it.Best,Jose |
