Does hearing the best in high end audio make your opinions more valid?
AAhhh Geoff, up early and at it this morning?  It seems today promises to be another installment of the stratification of the true audiophiles, the Rolls set if you will, versus the rest of us, the Chevy set.  That whole discussion seems kind of 8...
Who makes the highest quality tube amps?
Lets go with highest quality being equated to longevity.  Without any way of providing proof, I have to think that the Dynaco ST-70's have the most longest lived tube amps still in circulation.  I still think they sound passable.
Tekton Double Impacts vs the competition....
tommy, if you were to consider the DI SE, it would appear that for an additional $2K above that, that the new Encore model would be a significant upgrade based upon a member who has done so.
Best tube dampers that you have used
"One assumes whatever school you sent to if you did go to one was some sort of fluffy two year trade school."Pop Quiz:  Is the above even a sentence, if so, in what language?
Perfect Path Technologies: Omega E mat
Yes, the blues are out, and in. Based upon David’s observations, the blue duplex pretty much makes the red an black obsolete. Thank you Ted Denney for your efforts to improve sound quality.
Power Cords Snake Oil ??
Not another pop quiz, again.

Tim, simple question, without giving away any trade secret, what makes the mat different from, for lack of a better example, a simple piece of packing material?  How about throwing a little light on this in a manner that would not allow another to...
Speaker Connectors: Banana Plug conversion adaptor to spades
Actually, though not audiophile approved, I have found Monoprice connectors to fit my needs.  A number of them are gold plated, they are very inexpensive, so you can try them and if you don't like them you are only out a few bucks.  I also like th...
New Tweak --- Its Fantastic

Thanks for your response papa, appreciated.

Can someone who has the mat answer a couple of basic questions? When you look at the mat and hold it, what does it look and feel like is the base material? Foam rubber, cloth, other? Does it appear to work like TC, which as I understand it, the "w...
Nuforce STA200
Hi donst100, I was going to mention that my STA200 doesn't even get warm on my 89db, 6ohm speakers.  But just the same, I am a bit surprised it didn't play well with you Elacs. George

Geoff, somehow I am not surprised that you achieved "good repeatable results" using the degasser. Truth be told though, I and I suspect a number of us will be busy (repeat, will be busy) on the day of the double blind testing.
Nuforce STA200
mrdecibel, I purchased a STA200 about a month ago when Audio Advisor received them back in inventory again.  As was discussed previously, the amps high gain resulted in me only being able to turn up the volume on my tube preamp about 1/3 of usual....
Speakers for aging audiophiles - What's with today bass emphasis ?
I have only used their Sys passive to temper the gain on a very high gain amp. Worked like a charm. Hopefully Wolf will chime in with his positive experience with the EQ as he has in the past. Also, you can download the manual on their website. I ...
