Tube Pre-Amp, vs Solid State with Tone Controls/EQ to take edge off the top end?
dep14, I do use a tubed pre, but if all you really want to do is to take a little off the top end, I wouldn't think twice about getting the Schitt Loki for $149.  I have not used it but other members here have and like it.  I have the little Sys v...
Help with kef r900 issue
Is it possible that your speaker cable is so low impedance that they are causing your amps to oscillate like could happen with Goertz Alpha Core cables used without the supplied Zobel network?
Hegel H360 or H590 or Constellation Inspiration Integrated 1.0 for Magico A3
iar, what is wrong with the used demos on sale here?  Are they not the unit you are seeking?
Anyone try a SUB THREE from Vandersteen yet?
My equipment is likely too mid-fi for me to comment, but I have never understood the problem many have of integrating a sub into their system.  Maybe its because I have two SVS subs versus one?  Or just lucky?
Does hearing the best in high end audio make your opinions more valid?
Personally, I purchase Boone’s Farm wine and the secret is to wrap an Omega E Mat around it. I find that the longer you leave the E Mat in the freezer, undisturbed, prior to the wrap the better. An added bonus is I find my refrigerator runs on les...
Who makes the highest quality tube amps?
Hi Ralph,I have to sheepishly admit that I bought two of them used many years ago, one with cloth leads on what I believe is a U.S. built transformer and one with what I have read is a Japanese produced transformer. I took them to my tech upon pur...
Does hearing the best in high end audio make your opinions more valid?
AAhhh Geoff, up early and at it this morning?  It seems today promises to be another installment of the stratification of the true audiophiles, the Rolls set if you will, versus the rest of us, the Chevy set.  That whole discussion seems kind of 8...
Who makes the highest quality tube amps?
Lets go with highest quality being equated to longevity.  Without any way of providing proof, I have to think that the Dynaco ST-70's have the most longest lived tube amps still in circulation.  I still think they sound passable.
Tekton Double Impacts vs the competition....
tommy, if you were to consider the DI SE, it would appear that for an additional $2K above that, that the new Encore model would be a significant upgrade based upon a member who has done so.
Best tube dampers that you have used

Perfect Path Technologies: Omega E mat
Yes, the blues are out, and in. Based upon David’s observations, the blue duplex pretty much makes the red an black obsolete. Thank you Ted Denney for your efforts to improve sound quality.
Power Cords Snake Oil ??
Not another pop quiz, again.
Perfect Path Technologies: Omega E mat
Tim, simple question, without giving away any trade secret, what makes the mat different from, for lack of a better example, a simple piece of packing material?  How about throwing a little light on this in a manner that would not allow another to...
Speaker Connectors: Banana Plug conversion adaptor to spades
Actually, though not audiophile approved, I have found Monoprice connectors to fit my needs.  A number of them are gold plated, they are very inexpensive, so you can try them and if you don't like them you are only out a few bucks.  I also like th...
