Speakers to hang on to for LIFE I agree with an earlier response...The 805s is a special speaker in the line, and definately a monitor to hold on to. Good with lots of equipment, magic with tubes. A sleeper in the B&W line.
Krell Service I find it comical that you pay top dollar for Krell, and when you call you get snobby attitude (Jim Ludivichino) and slow service. Probably trickles down from the owner DD who is not quite the nicest guy in town...Paaaaaaaalease. To pay Krell pric...
Feedback on new Ayre MX-R Monoblocks Take the Shindo out of the mix and then listen to the Ayre if you want to hear it's true character. Guaranteed the presentation will be completely different. Whether it is good or bad depends on your ear and what they put in place of the Shindo Pr...
Cables for B&W 805S The 805s is a very nice speaker, and often doesn't get the respect it deserves. I auditioned it next to the 804s and liked it considerably better. Much smoother and easier to listen to. Simpler crossover will beat out lots of drivers any day when ...
Tube Amp Hum Thanks Phd, its a tubed Pre. A 2.5 soon to be a 5.5 in about 2 weeks. The line the audio system is on is dedicated to it, not cable tv on the same line at all. Cable TV near it, but no connected in any way whatsoever. The cables I have are shielde...
Tube Amp Hum I have tried cheater plugs, different circuits, moving the amp to a slightly different location, reversing the input tubes and the hum is still there.
What is the Wavelength Audio house sound? Wavelength house sound- Musical, sweet, tonally perfect. Could even be described as delicate in some ways. Although the bass with Cosecant is excellent. I have owned two pieces from Wavelnegth and both are very nice and easy to listen to, and quit...

Tube Amp Hum Heres a theory...I have Herbies Audio Lab isolation feet, which have a good reputation and I am pleased with them. But...Is is possible that because they are squishy material, the transformer hum noise is being trapped inside the amp and coming th...
Tube Amp Hum My refrigerator? Definately not....The system is on a completely dedicated circuit, there is no cable system on this circuit whatsoever. It is not a ground loop. Newbee, I will try the tube reversal as you mentioned. Sounds like an idea.
Tube Amp Hum Correction now that both my wife and I listened for it. It seems louder out of the left channel than the right, and....It is faintly audible from the listening area, not just at the speaker. I gotta tell ya, if there is way to resolve this noise I...
Tube Amp Hum Thanks Newbee...Yes it is when I am at the speaker only that I can hear it, not from the listening position which is only about 8 or 9 feet away. I moved my ICs around a bit and there was no effect whatsoever, and they are shielded (97% according ...
VTL 5.5 questions Yes, the phonostage is available for the 2.5 as well...You bring up a good point though about not being able to sell separately. I asked my dealer how many they sell of each, IE with and without phono, and they said it is about 50/50. For me getti...
VTL ST-85 vs. VTL ST-150 or rather EL34 vs 6550 I agree..There are as many bad dealers out there as there is bad advice. I am lucky to have found the dealer I did, and their loaner policy was extremely flexible, and they were patient. Thats all one can really ask. I personally look back and sti...
Has iTunes, etc. impacted your listening habits? Wavelength Audio Cosecant owner and it has forever changed the way I listen to my collection...And it sounds better than the G08 I auditioned next to it for two full weeks-in every single way. It made me a believer it computer audio and tubes. I w... |
