Soft squishy feet
Ok, so the sorbothane under everything is a no go...I don't know if I can completely describe what it did. Everything felt darker, too dark. Voices sounded more distant, and the sound stage definitely shrank some. So I pulled it out from the corne...
Soft squishy feet
Pubul, good point...I want to believe that is true, but the self-destructing audiophile in me always has to tweak and upgrade, and play with things. : ) Tonight I added sorbothane sheets (cut into small squares) with adhesive backing to all the ed...
speakers similar to Magico Mini's
If you spend that kind of money on those speakers and the Slimdevices is your primary source you are doing them disservice.
Will I improve the qualitry of sound?
I agree, this is a very lateral move. Same circuit, more power is really the difference if you move from one Rotel to the next. So ultimately all you stand to gain is better speaker driver control, with the same sonic signature as you have already...
Nuforce with Stillpoints ERS fabric
The st-150 is the better choice anyway...Everything happens for a reason, and if you get the VTL, you will be far from disappointed. Good Luck!
Soft squishy feet
I use the tenderfeet under a tube amp and I didn't hear a hint of difference in the sound. I will leave them of course for peace of mind, but I didn't hear a whole lot (if any difference) with them. Which may ultimately mean I need to further isol...
Manley Snapper or VTL ST 150
Jdec, I am actually running it in tetrode since everytime I use triod it blows a fuse in the right channel of the amp. I suppose it needs a new tube or something, but since it is a dealer demo I don't care. It sounds awesome in tetrode and I am to...
Manley Snapper or VTL ST 150
I don't see how anyone could that strings were, in any way, inaccurately represented by VTL. Maybe it wasn't the VTL you were hearing, because this is a strong-suit for VTL. I personally have listened to the st-150 and the st-85, in home for exten...
Vibration absorbing material.
You can also buy sheets of Sorbothane now, which can be cut and placed strategically in your rack. I know some people dont like the squishy stuff, but I personally have had great luck with it under my Tube equipment. I use the Audioquest Q feet un...
Ayre vs VTL vs BAT
My experience with VTL has been excellent, and I have been dealing with them for years. I think it is important to know how to deal with VTL. E-mail is not the best way to communicate, over the phone is best. Bea is very helpful, and if necessary ...
VTL 450 mystery - please help
Do you have a line dedicted to your system? If it works for you by all means go for it, I just wouldn't try it. Maybe Shunyata is the exception...I still would not do it.
Any Comparisons between VTL 7.5 & ARC Ref 3
Also, you should know the PS in the ARC Ref 3 is Hybrid not pure tube. Dgad was correct.
Any Comparisons between VTL 7.5 & ARC Ref 3
What about what I wrote is confusing??? Now I am confused...To be clearer for you, the comparison of these two preamps is imbalanced from the start. A more fair and equitable comparison would be the aforementioned 6.5 to the ARC, not the 7.5. The ...
VTL 450 mystery - please help
I have an st-85 as a loaner while my st-150 is being built at VTL..Whenever I put this little guy in triode mode it does exactly what is described in this thread. I saw a glow in one of the tubes on the respective channel of that fuse then the fus...
VTL ST-150 w/ B&W
Dennis, I agree the bass is good to excellent with VTL, very satisfying for me personally. And I am coming from Krell, so that should mean alot. I find he dynamics and transparency to be very good though. Granted this is my first tubed system, so ...
