DIY xlr cables I use the DH Labs Pro Studio bulk interconnect. A bit more expensive than the BL-1, but better cable construction and higher quality dielectric. I have 5 meter lengths between my preamp and poweramp and they sound great.
New Parasound Halo JC1+ monoblocks just released!!! Was in high bias mode, but fairly efficient speakers so maybe had less effect.
New Parasound Halo JC1+ monoblocks just released!!! I bought a JC-5 a few months ago after auditioning the JC-1. I found the two amps to have a very similar sonic signature, but the JC-5 was slightly cleaner sounding. The speakers I was using were fairly easy to drive, so the added current capabili...
Moving up from a Node 2i The BDP-2 works very well, particularly as a Roon endpoint. If the BDP-2 includes the upgraded audio board, then there isn't much sound quality difference between it and the BDP-3. The latter has a bigger power supply which might provide a slight ...
Tidal and Spotify royalties If Tidal pays that much per song steamed, they have to rely on the average user streaming way less than 24/7. If the average song is 5 minutes, 24/7 would cost Tidsl $110/month in streaming fees.
Strong bass causing buzzing behind the wall Thanks for the quick responses. The other side of the wall from my listening room is the utility room with the furnace. However, there is a built in book case and a fireplace chimney between the two. From the utility room, I can see what the ductin...
Best Decora AC Receptacle What model from furutech is decora style? I couldn't find one.
Need insight on these amps I owned the FPB-300 for about 20 years. I thought it was one of the better amps that Krell had produced SQ-wise, at least with the right system combination. But it does suffer from long term reliability problems. After about 13 years, I started to...
Best Decora AC Receptacle Anyone have a recommendation? Thanks, Jay
Looking for suggestions Budget? Is this a dedicated listening room? Do you have room to pull the speakers out from the front wall? Dipole speakers (such as planars and open-baffle speakers) should be 3ft or more from the front-wall to sound their best, while traditional ...
Subwoofers and Phase Question For You Sub Experts You should also consider the Rythmik subs. These have one of the best servo control systems on the market and are reasonably priced. The servo control amps include a variable phase control which makes it easier (using REW and a calibrated mike) to...
How good can it get, really? - my stereo sounds amazing! I don't think I've seen any mention of acoustic treatments. Is your room "tuned" at all? Perhaps look at some "art panels" (artwork over acoustic panels) at the first reflection points if possible, or some bass traps in the front corners. I gather...
How good can it get, really? - my stereo sounds amazing! Of course, we can all appreciate the desire to "change it up", without knowing what you have currently, it's impossible to give you any suggestions.
Why did Parasound discontinue the Halo JC-1 monoblock amplifiers? I'd agree with that. I think the JC-5 is a great sounding amp for the price if you've got moderately efficient speakers (85db/w or better). If you really need more than it can deliver as a stereo amp, best find something else or wait for the JC-1 ...
What is the most FUN pair of speakers you've ever had and why? Had a pair of ESS AMT-1B speakers back in college 40+ years ago. These rocked. Probably has something to do with the tinnitus I suffer from now. |
