very cool pehare....in the late sixties,i did the penny thing too. tried dimes, but my friends were so poor they stole them. i prefered the sound of copper anyway.
How does one go about auditioning a new turntable?
i believe tonight's the night to try tvad's audition method...works with digital too.
What do you think about Edge amps ?
they do sound good.....at least they aren't called nixon or einstein.

plagued with the worst product name since the ford probe, they sound ok, but look a little too fancyschamcy...my wife loves the look, so i must take the opposite opinion.
Reference level playback
the gain is always tampered with at the plant...even on different runs of the same recording ....next theory please.
Best Instruments in Analog
the kazoo, but i doubt anyone will invest in a turntable to campare. everything sounds more real in the summer in a car with the window down.....seriously, its really the recording, and the playback system as it fits into the room, not the media.
Please suggest serene, restful jazz recordings

Sonus Faber Cremona Auditor vs Concertino Domus
very nice nice. can't wait for part two.
Do I go vintage or newer?
both...the denon 500m...$600....and as amazing as anything for 2k....it looks vintage too.

your turntable and system are fine. in all honesty, you could blow through thousands of dollars and be no futher ahead....don't fall prey to equipment esoterica until you are settled into your career, living location, etc.
Merlin Upgrade Experience
the cremonias are indeed classic speakers for music lovers....very cool too.

i have both versions, and don't get me wrong the u.s. reissue sounds good. it does, however have that exagerrated upper bass that most reissue engineers feel is necc to make it sound contemporary....not a bad thing, just not the real thing.
Most resolving, transparent amps.
amps are generally at the mercy of your loudspeakers and source. there are an unlimited supply of tranparent choices, but matching with speakers is the most important step.
Significance of different components of audio ...
i agree
Common
yes..the japanese import of fragile still rules. no bass adjustments..the original mix intact.
