Interfacing Computer Music to D/A Converter ?
A laptop (hard drive) can make for an excellent front-end if it is done right. Definitely stick to the lossless file formats to start. You'll need a USB to S/PDIF interface. The best one I've tried, and still own, is no longer made, but you may be...
Mainstream reviews-why so few?
Grant - your car metaphor ain't working for me. There are really precious few 'underground' car manufacturers. There are, however, a great abundance of audio maufacturers who produce great stuff who operate without benefit of much advertisting - s...
Active Placette pre sound better than Passive?
Is it possible that you are using cable runs on the IC's that are too long? Stick to the shortest IC connection possible, especially between the passive and the amp(s). The passive pres are much more sensitive to cable length. I have a Placette an...
Can I ever stand to listen to our system again
My deepest condolances to you. I cannot imagine the depth of your loss. I know too well that there is little anyone can say to make things any better. I lost my father this past May. For me friends and family have been a great comfort and support....
Volume on my Pathos Classic One MKII ????
Swampwalker - there is a muting switch on the remote for the Mk ii version, so Dreadhead, you should check that and let us know if it may be engaged. Per Swampwalker - your Hybrid amp, deals with the different loads internally, and not via variabl...
Volume on my Pathos Classic One MKII ????
Could your TuneBox may need more gain...Is there a gain switch (MM/MC), and if so, is it correctly positioned for the Shelter? Have you tried a line input with your Pathos? Plug in a CD player to see if there is a similar problem there. If you don...
Mainstream reviews-why so few?
I can't tell you how many reviews (and real world comments, for that matter) that I've read that have made reference to the component under review being comparable, or even besting components that are 2-10 times more expensive. Just once I'd like ...

Ray LaMontagne - Got the Stuff
PS The opening act, David Ford, was also fantastic and received a largely standing ovation for his innovative solo performance. Also a very passionate singer, he uses the layering of very simple acoustic loops to create a He is accompanying Ray L ...
help Terry Cain
Thank you for the link, and for letting me know about this sad turn of events. An important note that should be added here is that Srajan Ebaen, publisher of 6moons, is using his site to help raise funds to pay for Terry's significant medical expe...
Ray LaMontagne - Got the Stuff
My wife and I joined Peter and his friend for that concert, and I'll echo the sentiments: Fantastic concert. A soulful and powerful artist. I would put him more as a cross between Iron & Wine and Damien Rice..perhaps a bit of Elliot Smith, yes...
can omega super3 reproduce orchestral experience?
With the right amp, Horn Shoppes can do justice to AC/DC, in-the-room acoustic bass, I think if this person is looking for "SLAM" no single-driver speaker is going to provide it. The Horn Shoppe horn goes down to only 70hz which is not even beginn...
