Desperate to Get Back to Horns

About Koetsu Rosewood
How many here are going to spend $17K on a phono stage? I don't see many hands going up. Even a $160 Schiit Mani 2 will show off the Koetsu's positive attributes!

About Koetsu Rosewood
I recommend that you test the Koetsu using the Shure Test Record to see how it performs on various groove modulations. For transducers like cartridges and speakers objective tests should be part of the evaluation process.

Get a variac and slowly ramp up the AC voltage over a day. Then use a multimeter to check the DC voltage on each speaker outputs. If the DC voltage is low - several millivolts then try a pair of speakers.
Is my Dynaco Stereo 400 worth repairing for resale?
Your Dynaco 400 might not need any immediate work. Put it on a variac to reform the power supply caps. Then use a multi-meter to check the DC voltage on the two speaker outputs. If those show only a few millivolts of DC try the amp with a pair of ...
Anyone else constantly curious about amps?
All competently designed amps of low noise, low distortion and low output impedance will sound indistinguishable. Tube amps with their high output impedance are excluded. They will track a speaker's impedance curve and have a non-flat response.
