Rim Drive Mod or how to make it even better Would a solid base under the motor and the table under the Gingko work? The play would of course be under the table. Trying to figure just how much of my setup I'd have to change to make this work when the rim drive becomes available for the Scout...
SSM w/Rim Drive - Cloud 11 Vibration issues? Wish they'd come out with the single motor/flywheel combo version of the rim drive. Also wondering if I'll have to change my isolation (assuming they do produce the rim drive for mine). Now the motor sits on a platform raised slightly above the Gin...
Record you spin on a rainy Saturday w/ family gone Anything by Low, and if I had to pick one, it would be Trust.
setting azimuth on VPI turntables Is there any other test records besides the Cardas with the 1khz tracks? I used the rod method but would like to check it electronically.
Attn Vinyl lovers - what CD Player do you use? Modwright modified Transporter. Very listenable and finally a digital source that gives my vinyl setup a rest. Had a highly modified XA777ES that was good but seldom found playing time. Digital very close now and happy with either.
More on VPI Anti-Skate Thanks Stringreen. I agree that without a/s it does sound slightly livelier.. almost as if it was recorded a bit hotter. On the damping, I have the level high enough to touch the base of the arm. Lifting it up, I can see the sheen and slight drip ...
More on VPI Anti-Skate Can you describe the difference with/without a/s? I have the same setup as you and I'm wondering if we're hearing the same thing.
VPI JMW9 Sig toneram cables - what do you use? I'm using the Anti-cables too. They were more revealing than the VPI cables. It's probably a system dependent thing, but they work for me.
ModWright Transporter I just kept it at default. The amount of compression will vary the speed, which I set to 5. I just don't have the time to wait for higher compression but the file space saved is significant. I read a lot of people set compression to 8. Compression...
ModWright Transporter I'm using flac. It's lossless and I can't tell a difference from cd's. Wav's are fine but take a lot more memory and can't accomodate song info and album art. I've read Apple's lossless is good too. Mp3's are a definite step down. I'm using this p...
ModWright Transporter Shazam.. I'm running it through my Modwright SWLP preamp. I may try it direct, but it would have to be quite a bit better to go through the hassle of switching since I'm spinning vinyl. But for the sake of the hobby, once it's broken in, I'll try ...
ModWright Transporter Well, I can say with complete confidence the Modwright is in a completely different league than the stock. I had the stock over a month before I had it modded. There was a 2 day turnaround dropping it off and picking it up, so I'm very familiar wi...
ModWright Transporter Stay tuned.. just dropped mine off there and will pick up modded unit probably Wednesday. I've had mine a month or so and I'll have a good perspective on the stock vs modded since I'll only be a couple days without it.
Gingko vs. pucks For what it's worth, mine is also on cement floor. I was really surprised at the improvement.
Gingko vs. pucks Before this thread goes down a rabbit hole, let me add the Gingko is an essential upgrade to the Scout. Made a profound difference for me. |
