Thorens 125 MkII: MM or MC cartridge? What's diff? Actually the TP16 arm on a 125 mkII is a great arm. The SME is a good arm also - there is more panache to the SME (probably a type 3) but many prefer the stock arm.
Is it my imagination? Bob-Don't stockbrokers do that everyday? :-))
Balanced XLR cables suggestions Go with the Innersound balanced cable and don't look back.
Thorens 125 MkII: MM or MC cartridge? What's diff? The cartridge you have is the best of the shure V15 series. Don't replace it - but if necessary get a new stylus assembly - make shure it is for that particular series of cartridge. email me for more info if you like....bravo a Sdcampbell..
FMS Blue cables ? Contact Ensemble AV in New Hampshire (www.ensembleav.com) - they can tell you about FMS. I have a set of early FMS Blues and a later set and feel both are great.
Passive pre with Bryston 7B ST?? As an alternative you may want to try an Adcom GFP 750. It's a Nelson Pass design, runs either active or passive, and can run balanced in/out. You can pick them up under a $1k here on audiogon but make sure you ask questions. At one point there wa...
Digital volume control, WADIA style I believe there is a preferable sonic difference, when the most realistic situation is called for, between even the best passive preamp and the Wadia 8xx or such straight in, in favor of the Wadia to amp connection. The factor arbiting is balanced...
40 feet balanced between preamp and Levinson.... Stone bargain, great sound, nice fellow to deall with.
Are Cheap XLR Balanced Better Or GOOD RCA I am using an 8 meter balanced Innersound cable. Sounds like the expensive ones at a fraction the price! True bargain and Roger is a great guy to deal with...
McIntosh transistor tuners....any good ones? I own one of the MR 7xxx series. It is easy to use, has a number of convenient presets as well as several other tuning methods, gets AM, and sounds great. On live FM broadcasts, it recreates depth and ambience. It's real strength is in those stati...
Amp recommendations to drive Martin Logan Prodigy? I recently heard the MLs with a McIntosh MC 602. The system used several different CD players (BAT, Mark L separates, and Meridian) both thru a BAT 50SE and straight in. It was one of the most musical demos I had heard at this dealers. The amp tro...
SME IV or Wilson-Benesch Act .5 for Linn LP12? Tom-I respectfully submit you are referring to the SME III - the IV is a "detuned" version of the SME V, that is suited for 'coils. However, I still beieve a Linn arm is more appropriate than either.
Best Long-Distance receiving Tuners 1.I would contact Don Scott. He has some inexpensive tuners for sale that can be tweaked for your situation. He may also align your present set-up.bdscott@nac.net2. That being said, what I (and all engineers I have read)have found is that money sp...
Help needed. Sean-Excellent advice re: taking that specific unit rather than a "new one." Bravo!IJ
mark levinson 23.5 or Ayre V5? That's the problem The point is the current range of 3kk amps is sterile. This is borne out by my listening, indeed. Previous amps, and reportedly the 4kk series, are not so bad. |
