Esoteric DV-50: Tweaks, Up-sample settings, etc. Springbok10: Where did you post your comments about TEAC? I can't find your "new thread".
Does balanced interconnect sound beter than RCA? Balanced circuits and connectors have been the standard in the recording and broadcasting industry for decades. They are noise and RF resistant, with better grounding, and the positive locking connectors are more reliable and easier to use. If you...
Esoteric DV-50: Tweaks, Up-sample settings, etc. Springbok10: The DV-50's remote is not lighted. My remote works fine, but I seem to remember that on the Sony SCD 777 ES, there was a switch on the back panel to select either of two remotes. I accidently moved this switch several times, and had t...
Please recommend SACD player under $6K - "warm" Kennyt: Galen Carol Audio will send you a DV-50, and will allow you to audition it for a week. You can contact him at www.gcaudio.com or (210) 805-9927. He is very honest, and a nice person to deal with.
KRELL SACD or TEAC Esoteric DV-50 Larry k.: If the DV-50 is "slightly cold" sounding (and I sort of agree), then what universal player (other than the very expensive Linn Unidisk) is "warmer" sounding? UNIVERSAL player --- not SACD alone.
Living Stereo SACD's are a comin This is great news! I just hope there won't be as many delays as with the Mercury Living Presence project. The latest release date on those (and it is not fixed) is July 13.
What music do you want to play really loud? The Pines and Fountains of Rome by Respighi, Stravinsky's Rite of Spring, Rachmaninoff's Symphonic Dances, and a lot of Mahler, Nielsen, and Ravel.
Esoteric DV-50: Tweaks, Up-sample settings, etc. I also have found the DV-50 to be an excellent value, considering everything it does. As to interconnects, I started with Cardas Golden Reference, but found the upper mids too bright. I have had the best results with Nirvana SX Ltd. balanced cable...
Thank You, to the Person Who Helped You the Most. To the late Frank Richards (FR in the old TAS). I met him in the mid '70s, and he had forgotten more about audio than most current writers know. He could diagnose an audio problem very quickly, and could explain how to fix it in terms a guy like m...
Upgrade to new Conrad Johnson Premier 140 ? I too would like to see a careful comparasion between these two CJ amps. I am driving the mids and highs on a pair of Genesis V's with the lla, and wonder if going to the 140 would be worthwhile considering the increased cost of the 140.
KRELL SACD or TEAC Esoteric DV-50 Mak: You have put your finger on a possible flaw in my comparasion of the Linn vs the DV-50. The Linn is heard on a system built around Quad ESL-63's, compared to my system which is anchored by Genesis V's. I hope to get both players into the same...
KRELL SACD or TEAC Esoteric DV-50 I now agree with Keithr that the Linn Unidisk 1.1 is the best I have heard. After a friend got all the bugs worked out of the Linn (two trips back to Linn), the sound he is getting is superb! As much as I like my DV-50, it simply does not have the...
About the EMM Labs DAC To Bhouser: AMEN!! Irishdog.
About the EMM Labs DAC Thanks Bhouser, for your thoughtful reply. I agree about the software currently being issued. Much of it is unmusical, harsh, and sometimes unlistenable. This includes SACD, DVD-A etc. Where is the incredible sound Bob Harley promised us after lis...
About the EMM Labs DAC I have never heard any emmlabs equipment, but have been reading the raves in this section of audiogon for many months. (perhaps even years). I must admit to being very naive, when I wonder why no other maker can solve all the problems of digital, ... |
