Weakest digital link: DAC - Streamer - Server?
No, the speaker tends to interfere with that, but many come very close. I encourage you to take some amplifiers that identified as such and see if you can tell them apart without looking.     No thanks, those kind of amps tend to give me a head...
Weakest digital link: DAC - Streamer - Server?
lot of people use amplifiers, tube, many low feedback designs, etc. to alter the tone of their system. Those will definitely sound different from amplifiers designed to be a straight wire with gain.        Too bad no amplifier is a straight wi...
You Cant Buy It but you Can Build It
I had that little carver subwoofer and it pressurized the room good, but didn't sound very good. My friend has the carver amazings, they aren't built very good and his apogee's blow them away in sound quality.
The Big Misconception About Electricity
Remember I take this thread at this state as a joke.      Why would you waste your time then? I guess you don't have anything more important to do.  Is this how you spend time off for work.
Dedicated 20 Amp Line for Audio
A note on 10awg romex.  Yes, the wire is extremely stiff and you may not be able to install it.  You CANNOT fold this wire when pushing the outlet back into the box.  It is just too stiff.  When I did mine, I had to run the Romex straight through ...
Garage Listing room
It would work if you put something on the walls over the insulation, like drywall or plywood. It will sound dead with just the insulation.
Science that explains why we hear differences in cables?
Coincidentally there is a recent review in audio science review in which RCA cables from three distributors, with fairly wide price differences, are compared from both a performance and an auditory perspective. No significant differences were foun...
Tube Amp, Preamp upgrades -- what did you do that improved your units?
What rectifier tubes do your quicksilvers use, and what are you planning on spending?
Why Do Schumann Resonators Work?
I have two purchased off the bay but have yet to be be impressed. But then I never stuck any “magic dots” to any speakers I ever owned either. The cheap Schumann resonators use a square wave, try one that uses a sine wave.
Class A amps
Take it up with Nelson Pass. The Messiah of solid state class-A amplification (not you)And why his top of the line amps are low power Class-A!! and always have been.Aren't his top of the line amps the XS series, which are not low power.
That Other Audiophile Website
That other audio site is trying to perpetuate a squeaky clean image. Other audiophiles have posted having the same problem as me with that web site. I'm not the only oneI see seller's on that site with negative feedback, so they must weed out the ...
Class A amps
Lets be perfectly honest here folks, who actually listens to music on output levels of 50 watt and aboveI use way more than 50 watts, my apogee duetta 2 speakers are not very sensitive, but they sound phenomenal.
Tube vs solid state (with all apologies)
then why do tubes claim certain life expectancy? Those are usually just an average, it can be less or more depending on how the circuit is designed. I have a preamp that uses two 866a rectifier tubes that will last decades until the filament burns ...
Can You Hear Me Now
So the point is that golden ears really do exist.
Science that explains why we hear differences in cables?
science" isn’t interested in beliefs. Maybe not but scientists are interested in consensus, which isn’t always truth.
