Do tube CD players and tube pre-amps play nice? Physically/electrically there shouldn't be any problem. Sonically it's your call. I know people with all tubes, with tubes in just one component (be it the CDP/T, DAC, Pre, or Amp), and all combinations in between.
CES 2004 Best of Show I may be mixing and matching with THE Show, but the consensus in my group of the rooms we heard was- Walker Audio with the Proscenium feeding Viva monoblocks driving Zingali speakers. One of the gang descibed it as sounding like 'sex' - he doesn't...
tube phono stage under $1k? I would suggest that you may get better sound overall by looking for an integrated amp with a phono stage, thereby not having to run your analog thru the receiver at all. You would run the receiver's L/R pre-outs into the IA as an auxiliary input ...
Clamp for Rega Planar 2? Thanks guys! I think I'll head over to ED for a Heavyweight.
DLP, LCD, XVGA projectors, what are they and One drink's too much, and 20 aren't enough. It would be a missive to answer your questions. You might try looking at the FAQ's at more video-oriented sites. Feel free to email me for some suggestions.
CD Player Integration into HT Setup If you are looking for a large significant change, you might try a non-up/oversampling and/or tubed-output DAC. They may or may not be your cup of tea, but you should have no problem hearing a big difference. Buy at the right used price and resell...
where do you cross over your ht setup Sean,LOL, but as I was reading that post I was thinking it was you (i didn't look at the header). I've always believed you should set the cross a full octave above the -3dB point of your speakers, to avoid just such a 'hole' in the LF response. Of...
Favorite one box C.D.?? Rec (or anyone else with info of course),I've heard some uncomplimentary things about the mechanical reliability of the Audiomeca's - have you heard or experienced any such thing? I almost pulled the trigger on a Mephisto II transport, but backed ...
Where do you draw the line??? OK, here's what I believe:1. I believe diminishing returns applies in all walks of life - including audio.2. I believe 'diminishing' means 'diminishing', not 'non-existent'.3. I believe all of us spend WAY too much energy and resources on our equi...
Suggestions for someone who wants to get in tubes tcco,Yes, you can run your 2-ch sources into the pre, and run the receiver L/R preouts into it also. If the pre doesn't have an HT bypass/unity gain function simply calibrate the HT with the pre's volume control at a known position, and return it ...

Consumer Electronics Show,8-12 Jan. 2004 Las Vegas Ditto much of what Gunbei said. My first was 2002 and I had a similarly great time. Even better than the toucvhing and listening (which is compromised in most rooms) was the accessibility to meet and talk with the designers. Most were very approac...

Johnny Cash - Rest in Peace Springsteen opened the Chapel Hill show last night with a very nice version of 'I Walk The Line'. (BTW, he opened on the 10th with Warren Zevon's 'My Ride's Here')
Speaker / Amp Choices for a Large Room You might try integrating a subwoofer into your setup before resorting to more drastic and expensive alternatives. |
