What are the weak points of Pass amps and pre-amps ?
In my observation, those whose hearing is good enough - no need for golden ear - hear very similarly but they can verbalize it in a different and sometimes unclear ways and of course, sound preferences differ. Most of people around me prefer elect...
Good Product or Nonsense?
Never tried it, but Walter Davies of LAST usually or always makes good stuff. But he is analog guy. So is Lloyd Walker.
Good Product or Nonsense?
As I remember, Auric was quite popular among Audiogon members some time ago. I just never got there to try it because cds are not that important to me. I think, most or all who compared said that it was better than Optrics. Some preferred Walker, ...
Good Product or Nonsense?
If Optrix does that those CDs are junk and not made properly. I treated various discs and they play as they did twenty years ago. Same cd player, by the way.
What is the best Reel To Reel machine ever built?
Probably the best open reel deck ever built was custom made by an American, forgot his name. One unit only, I think. Pink Floyd's Gilmore said that compared to that machine any stock Studer sounded like a cassette deck. But, I guess 2" Studer 820 s...
Power - where to start? Mains, chords, conditioner, filter?
To the OP. I would start with power cord on the integrated amp. It should be at least 12 gauge conductors, preferably 10 or 8.
Power - where to start? Mains, chords, conditioner, filter?
I have a difficult time believing a conductor can hear everything that 100 musicians play, including how precisely their instruments are tuned. But he/she does.$2100 power cord is what I have on my $1500 integrated amp and it is so much better tha...
A well-produced and recorded classical guitar LP?
Of what I heard, John Williams is currently the best classical guitar player, for my taste. Try youtube first and go from there. He was a student of Segovia, I think.
Good Product or Nonsense?
Walker Audio is another product. I haven't tried it, though.
Reel to reel
Nor only do you turn the speakers off when recording, you turn everything off that is not needed. But that's not why tape has an advantage in certain elements of sound even when it is a recording from vinyl. Besides, speaking of vinyl reproduction...
Reel to reel
Again, deck does re-mastering when recording and the better it does it the better the sound. But it will never sound better than the analog source in every respect, this is nonsense, regardless of the number of magnetic particles. The recording wi...
Good Product or Nonsense?
I used it on all my cds. There is an improvement. Careful with gold cds, there might be some haze left, does no damage as far as I can tell and they sound better too. Follow the directions precisely.
Reel to reel
Tape recorded off vinyl will not sound better in every respect. Tape recording has better flow coherence and 'sound saturation '. It might also have a better drive and some differences in sound that are hard to put into words. Certain things will ...
Reel to reel
If you want to do it right spend right as well. Forget that Pioneer with those boxes of tapes. The price is too low.How good is your vinyl front end, including phono ? I am not even close to knowing this stuff but I researched the subject, started...
Component isolation
We hear electricity not original sound, a helpless imitation of reality. Don't fool yourself. Well, that was wrong - fool yourself and keep it that way. But Michael is right, you some guys don't get it. Passing signal causes vibrations that change...
