Best integrated up to $6000
I'll just mention Gryphon as an alternative to Rowland. Very difficult to find. And prepare to ship it to Denmark if something goes wrong. Wouldn't be a problem for me.
Turntable recommendation for under 6k
Exactly. Without 'background information' including preferences this makes little sense. $6k covers a lot, especially if bought used.
With $20,000 in your hand, what speaker would you
Well, I could try big Soundlabs if I had another $20k for amps and much bigger room.Since I like Michael Green free resonance speakers, I would try to find his Chameleons. They are not made anymore, as far as I know, and should cost under $10k use...
The missing piece
First - Boston Audio graphite blocks for speakers. Second - cleaning all the connectors in the system with Mo-Fi two step contact cleaner.
Nottingham Analogue setup manual
You could talk to Larry at Hollywood Sound in Florida, hwdsound.com. He is the current Nottingham distributor and knows these tables and arms well. He might be able to assist you. He also likes MC cartridges.
Nottingham Analogue setup manual
That's unusual. Why didn't the cartridge align? Are you sure it was because of this that the channels were not even?I am about to unpack my Spacedeck/Spacearm too and put Goldring 1042 in the arm. But I will probably have a dealer set it all up.Ma...
Which cartridge in a Nottingham Analogue?
1012 and 1042 are different level cartridges. Yes, many put Dynavector or Shelter in Spacearm and like the sound. A matter of taste. If I wanted to go with MC, I would probably try Lyra first.Anyone has this set-up- Spacedeck/Spacearm/Lyra ?
What to upgrade first for better sound quality?
I would match phono stage to cartridge not the other way around. If I were you I would probably replace the Ortofon with Soundsmith Carmen or higher and see what happens. Then phono stage. Then speakers. Then amps. And cables. And power regenerator...
Who is your overall favorite guitarist?
Paco de Lucia is dead. Here's what I consider his very best performance. I never heard anyone play like that. The quality or the recording is poor but you can hear the essense.https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CH-aV9eWP20&index=128&list=FLHA...
Which cartridge in a Nottingham Analogue?
Nottingham cartridges were based on Goldring and they sounded excellent in Spacearm. I would definitely go with Goldring 1042, at least to begin with. It's $360 cartridge, if you get it from the UK. Some people use it in much more expensive set-ups...
Waiting for Paypal
I too only link paypal to credit card, and the credit line is not big.I deposited USPS money orders at Citibank many times and they were cleared immediately. The amounts were relatively small so I don't know what happens if you deposit a few thous...
Anyone out there heard Brendan Perry?
Present day "Dead Can Dance", together or separately, is a joke compared to what they used to be. And I actually wanted to say junk, so I did.
acoustech electronic ph1 or Graham Slee Reflex
Don't know about Graham. My Acoustech PH-1, original not premium version, is great with Nottingham Spacedeck/Spacearm and with both high output MC and MM.Amplifier is Redgum integrated. Benefits from good power cord, as usually the case.
Nakamichi 682ZX vs ZX-9
I do have 682ZX but was thinking about trying ZX-9 too. I mostly use Maxell Vertex tape and it sounds really good. I like to make compilations, from records and cds. Both decks are now quite rare.
Oil For Nottingham Spacedeck?
I think, you can get the Nott oil cheaper from divineaudio.co.ukThey are reliable, shipping was quick enough. I bought a belt from them. The bottle is good for five/seven oil changes that you should do from time to time, say, every year or so.
