Why would anyone want 180g records ?
Highest quality vinyl I have is Japanese from seventies and it's not 180g. I think, these thick and heavy records are a complete waist of the resources, you also have to adjust the tonearm each time you play them. In addition, I tried couple of 18...
Is it possible to have to many tweeks in your system
Walker resonance control discs have sealed lead in them. I don't see any problem with that. Too many of those discs would certainly make things worse. Lloyd himself warns about it and suggests experimenting.

taters,I see. AA just got their 'value' line. They are good people. I recently bought $200 Grado phones there, and what the man said was right on. He was not in a hurry, didn't try to convince me to get Grado Rererence instead, headphone amp etc. ...
Reel to Reel uses -
If you think of it, open reel deck based analog set-up could be far less expensive than those ridiculously overpriced record playing rigs. $2k machine should sound excellent, and it doesn't have to be made in China. Make them in Poland or Czech Re...
Koetsu RSP Sound Problem
Good points above, from people far more experienced than I am.I would give it another 100 hours of real play, with not valuable records just in case, and only then send it out for evaluation. After ten years it might need time to wake up.

They don't even have a phono stage from Constellation, if it exists at all. Yeah, a little strange. I like AA and Needle Doctor. Never dealt with AS, bought a few records and cds from MD and didn't like their lousy packaging and overcharged shippi...
Did you ever think digital and analog would exist side by side the way it is now
I did have to buy a few because that music was unavailable in analog but serious listening is not really possible with that. To be fair, there are analog recordings and records that are barely listenable. Try Birds of Fire by Mahavishnu Orchestra.
Did you ever think digital and analog would exist side by side the way it is now
Homo Sapiens and Neanderthals once existed side by side. It's survival of the fittest, that's of analog. Digital is dead and has always been.
Canadian LP pressing, how good?
I only compared Spleen and Ideal. Yes, I preferred the Japanese to the UK but the difference was not big as I remember, I sold the UK record years ago.
Canadian LP pressing, how good?
I have all the Dead Can Dance albums. The Aion is a white label  promo and the rest are regular original UK issues. Though hard to compare different albums, this promo sounds really good.I also have a few Japanese original promos in addition to re...
Dolby NR encoding - did it ever work
Norman,It is Nak 682ZX. I just disconnect the phono stage from the integrated amp and go directly to the deck. I of course calibrate each cassette when recording, this makes a lot of a difference.
Canadian LP pressing, how good?
Forgot to mention that I also have two original Japanese pressings from eighties - Spleen and Ideal by Dead Can Dance and Cielo e Terra by Al di Meola. The former sounds better than original UK and the latter than original US and Holland. Better i...
Dolby NR encoding - did it ever work
I don't know, Norman, my Nak was aligned and calibrated by Willy Hermann five years ago, and I did send him Maxell Vertex tape along with the deck. But I cannot be certain what he did with Dolby if anything. The deck still sounds exactly the same ...
Canadian LP pressing, how good?
None of the Japanese records I have sound bright, but I don't have many and they are all Columbia/Sony from seventies.Yeah, comparing pressings takes time and effort but may be worth it.
Dolby NR encoding - did it ever work
I will partly correct what I said before. I think, my cartridge and new cables were not fully broken in when I was making comparisons while recording from my Spacedeck turntable, though they had over 150 hours on them.First of all, the deck cannot...
