What was the first system you heard that made you think the high end made sense

I think, it's their best album. Neo-classical dark wave par exellance. Quite different from what Malmsteen sometimes plays. But at times he does play great stuff.

Yeah, power management, including power cords, is complicated and should be tailored to a particular application. In some ways more than the rest of the system. Great interconnect will sound at least very good with anything, even RCA.

Try The Umbersun by Elend. That's not your usual...whatever.

First you need to find out if the voltage fluctuates wildly. Where I live it does from 116V to 127V, American current, so I have to use the regenerator. If the voltage is stable you don't really need a regenerator, only very good passive condition...

What exactly is colored sound?
Whatever we hear comes out of speakers. Strictly speaking, we don't know how everything else 'sounds', it doesn't sound at all.
