12AX7 tubes for the phono stage of VAC Avatar SE integrated.
Tubes for phono must be especially quiet and balanced. Similar to tonearm cable.
Great vintage MM cartridge for my Nottingham Analogue Spacedeck/Spacearm. Recommendations?
That would be a pain for me. In this case, I prefer constancy, just one cartridge.
Mullard EL34 that sounds best
I am not sure I understand what you are saying. With this VAC at least you just set the bias for new tubes, then check it a few times later and leave it alone. Recheck every month.

ryder, you've got a great piece that should last forever.

In fact, the Mullards that I just got improved further after 100 hours of burn in. Either they were virtually new or were not played for some time. Or both.
Can you do anything to make power tubes last longer ?
Now I wonder how Mullard XF1 and the earliest ones with metal base would sound in my amp..
Anybody having trouble getting near-your-asking-price for used gear ? (Plz. no hype)
Profit margin for new speakers is usually much higher than electronics. $25k for two year old $50k speakers sounds reasonable to me. If they are great speakers.

No, no Pass. There are I think only two American companies that make top of the range transistor equipment - Boulder and D'Agostino. Others are European and Japanese.
Turntables currently considered top of the range. Do you know what they are ?
mulvelimg, I see. Are you also familiar with SME turntables ? Anyone has Walker ?

Yeah, speaking of inflation and generally of the cost of living. When I get $450 electrical bill monthly, this is average, in CT, residing in an apartment... This is a big apartment though by usual standards but still. And then other things gettin...
Is there an 'Audiophile' Reel-to-Reel Machine for Under $1,000?
I think, we made it sound very complicated to the OP. But, yes, he must decide if he needs two or four track deck and if he needs 15ips speed.  Master tape dubs can be less than $400 but still very expensive. For his old recorded tapes he may need...

Look forward to reading about your impressions. Gryphon is among the very best SS equipment and should be an excellent match with most speakers.

Not familiar with your power cords, but try Gryphon stock power cord too.

Gryphon Diablo 120 and Harbeth must be an excellent match. Gryphon's phono stages are always excellent.

Give it some time to warm up/burn in. If it hasn't been used for a while it should sound better after a few dozens of hours or perhaps even after a few hours, hard to know in advance. What power cord do you intend to use with it ?
