How long does it take a decent quality speaker to "wear out"? . . . @erik_squires , if I remember correctly, B&W claims that the midrange drivers are made of Kevlar & the tweeter of titanium.
How long does it take a decent quality speaker to "wear out"? @erik_squires I used to run those speakers hard and loud. Quite often at ear bleed. There were times that I was surprised that they did not explode even though they never clipped. We are both older and I may be somewhat wiser and they are in a s...
Did you ever buy too much bass? No @fuzztone , not even once?
Are There Improvements that Can Be Easily and Quickly Made Without Buying More Stuff? Are you running your stuff on more than one dedicated circuit? I was, but I recently read a thread that prompted me to try ’all-on-one’ and to my surprise I truly think I like it better on one.
Speakers that are good with tubes I must have missed the part where he said the amps were 350 wpc. If I had know that, I would have skipped this thread altogether. This is way out of my league.
Help and Advice Needed: Cary Audio SLP-05 Preamp RMA Disaster Although I am among those who feel that the quality of Cary's tech support has declined, I will also say that (to me) my Marantz SA10 does sound great through the balanced ins and outs of my SLP-05.
What does "balanced triodes" refer to as related to vacuum tubes? Thanks to all for the informative responses. Thanks, @mulveling , that was particularly helpful.
patricia barber - diana krall - holly cole I've never noticed that on the Holly Cole CDs that I own.
patricia barber - diana krall - holly cole Sometimes when I’m reading a book and listening to music, whenever I reach for the remote to move to a different song, it’s always Holly Cole. Don’t know what’s about her music but I can’t stand to listen to her for more than 30 seconds. It's ...
Single plug dedicated circuit? @erik_squires , I respect your stated opinion and you will get no argument from me, as I don't have enough understanding of the subject matter to argue about it (which is another way of saying that I am clueless). And I do recall a thread I star...
Single plug dedicated circuit? @erik_squires , as I have stated and will continue to repeat, my grasp of electrical and electronics is limited. This is the thread that got me thinking along those lines. (With my limited ability to understand, I cannot help but think that a s...
Home theater and 2 channel setup from same speakers? Back in the prehistoric days of Dolby Prologic, I bought a B&K HT preamp and two extra amps (one for the center channel and one for the rear speakers channel). I ultimately gave up on HT and stuck to developing my 2 channel stereo.
Single plug dedicated circuit? @erik_squires I'm not sure what any of you think you gain by having an extra meter and panel. I don't make any claims to being an electrician or having much of an understanding of electrical theory, but from what what I have read on other thr...
Single plug dedicated circuit? The ultimate subpanel would have it’s own line run from outside and its own ground. But that wouldn’t be Kosher. What with all the dedicated circuit threads and with what I have been recently doing with my own, I was thinking that the ultimate ...
Still another question about biasing tube amps Thank you. I did find a tube data sheet (from Svetlanta) for the EL34 that I can read, and I am thinking that the bias that is read on the MM reflects "plate current, idle"? |
