Are there passive attenuators that don't zero volume and only offer one input ?
Rectification can then be achieved with thyristors, and jfets ¿Que?Thyristor is a gated diode. What earthly advantage is there over a 1N400x diode?High quality DC supplies are 10 a penny today.

Just had a look @ OP Stereo Coffee LDR attenuator @ Stereo Coffee Passive LDR Preamplifier (wixsite.com)Why an A/C supply when a DC wallwart would keep all hum outtadabox?PCB looks like something a kid would have designed 40 years ago.TRIM POTS?!?...

Which is to say it is essential I should think to be able to zero volume, and have more than one input, do you agree ? No.Every contact, additional component and wire/trace affects the sound. Anything below -20dB is pointless with properly co...
Class D for a Tube Lover
People, PAY ATTENTION!!!Class D sonics depend on the load!At least look at the first graph for the 6 Class D amplifiers below to see how much variation there is into benign standard loads. FAR MORE than the ’NIGHT & DAY’ differences cables mak...
Bang for the buck vs. “money no object” cable recommendations
Ignore ALL recommendations. Cost is no arbiter of sonic quality in any particular system.Cables are system specific. They interact with the connected components.see  ieLogical CableSnakeOil and  ieLogical Audiophilia Redux Cable Quest, written n...
Class D for a Tube Lover
I have 20 pairs. Do you listen to music or just hardware? So an amp that’s able to drive a good variety of speakers is a must. As with tube amps, the loudspeaker completes the drive circuit in Class D albeit with different characteristics an...
Class D for a Tube Lover
Ignore ALL recommendations. The only way to tell is in your system in your room with your music. There are far too many technical issues to list, but anyone who claims Class D can sound like tubes does not have a very revealing system.I have Class ...
If you don't have a wide sweet spot, are you really an audiophile?
Every recording you ever listened to in life went through a whole lotta "processing" before you bought it. Any DAC you've got is "processing". Your turntable setup is immensely colored. If you don't like processing, forget multichannel gear, you...
If you don't have a wide sweet spot, are you really an audiophile?
I worked for dts 20 years ago. I could have gotten product for free and took none. I detested the multichannel stuff we produced. Some of my much smarter pals worked for Warner and Universal writing processing code. Not one of them ever thought ...
If you don't have a wide sweet spot, are you really an audiophile?
Skip trying to perfect a grossly inadequate number of speakers (i.e 2) for the ultimate music listening experience and go to 5.2.2 atmos setup powered by a good surround processor and amp. Some very smart guys declared that you need a lot more t...
If you don't have a wide sweet spot, are you really an audiophile?
Also, the problems with their imaging is not so much that they don't image, it's' that they need so much width or extremely well treated rooms. The room where I heard them had treated walls, carpeted floors and seemed very well behaved. There w...
If you don't have a wide sweet spot, are you really an audiophile?
I feel that there are at least 2 speaker brands which prove you can have really good imaging and a really wide sweet spot, given a wide enough room.Revel and Magico.Don't these two brands prove that great imaging in the center and very good off ...
Re-terminate speaker cables
To get the correct polarity I assume the two bass wires would be combined and the two treble combined. NO!+ve from bass & tweet together to RED speaker term.-ve from bass & tweet together to BLK speaker term.

time delay = phase shift
If you don't have a wide sweet spot, are you really an audiophile?
I built stuff for professional recording studios as well. Not one offs either, but production equipment. I have done this in the commercial world, and in the academic world, under proper controlled conditions and with the equipment to know exact...
