What type of wire for dedicated 20A AC lines?
No wire requires burn in.

Whether it is 12 awg THHN in a conduit or 12/2 Romex doesn't matter.  Read p31ff here https://centralindianaaes.files.wordpress.com/2012/09/indy-aes-2012-seminar-w-notes-v1-0.pdf and call us back.

It would have been really sweet to run a parallel 10ga Romex and charge for  tickets to demos of the improvement...

12 gauge non-dedicated line A non-dedicated line is [almost] always a bad idea. Refrigerators, hair-dryers, SMPS, light dimmers, etc. add nasty stuff that some products cannot tolerate. When we built recording studios, the gear and the garbage...

Someone earlier mentioned mains feed heat buildup. So I measure it. My system is 715 wpc fed from a single 20A /12ga cct. Three bottle rocket amps account for 25% of the power, so average draw is larger than if all SS. Class A would be worse, but...

70A into 8Ω is 39.2KW. Ain't never gonna happen in a power amp. 200W into 8Ω is 5A @ 40V. Even a 3x peak is only going to draw about 5A from the line for a fraction of cycle.

No connected load on the branch circuit and you measured a 5V VD on the end of line. Yes. The lame ass electrician stripped the wire when pulled. The plaster & painter didn’t cover the boxes and the wire barely made connection is some place...

Most of what is published about increasing ampacity is rubbish. Joe AudioPhool installs his hifi in the last socket in a room with daisy chained quick connects. Then installs a direct big ass line and writes about it. The real problem is the daisy...

The one thing that'll change as you explore the upper range of Nordost is the bass. I mean there are improvements in other areas as well, but that's the one area that made the biggest difference for me. Actually, the relationship between the 'b...

Well those are just silly arguments If one can make an excellent system awful w a single cable change, it stands to reason that the correct cables can make a less than stellar system much better. Unless one subscribes to the nonsense that cabl...

I wouldn’t use colored components with rolled off highs to assess any cables. How do you know the Mac system 'failings' were not the cables? One AQ swap changed it from beautiful to beastly.    Mac/B&W D3 combos ... simply gloss over too...

I wouldn’t use Mac gear to assess any cables. Interesting concept recommending cables with no regard to how they interface in a system. So, you’ve shared one experience where a more expensive PC was supposedly inferior (lots of variables at p...

Cables, and to a large extent HiFi, is Jewelry. Some cables are extremely complex to fabricate and can somewhat justify their pricing on that basis. A large part is to drive marketing as in "The same technology in our $40,000 cable is used in our...

What makes a $200 cable better than a $50 cable?   It sounds better to the listener in a particular system and room. Other than that: Beauty is in thy eye of the beholder? aka Confirmation Bias?

@soix: Really? I won’t? Where’s your evidence of this   I once auditioned some AQ cables in a full Mac system that I would judge as pretty damn good. ToL B&W LS w 2x big REL subs. Well-proportioned and well-damped room. Excellent presentat...
