Opinions on the "TACT" sonic signature? The Tact "sound" is VERY clean and clear, very black and detailed, and PERHAPS a touch on the cool side of the equation. I owned a Millennium Mk II and RCS 2.2 a few years ago, and the sound was quite nice. I could've kept it, but I eventually fou...
New vs. old version of EMM Labs CDSD They sound identical. The main changes are (a) the Mk. II has a new transport (Phillips changes transports every year, but the new and old one are identical sonically, reliability-wise and noise-wise); (b) the new one has a USB port that allows ea...
A brutal review of the Wilson Maxx I'm not a big fan of the Wilson sound either, and Hardesty doesn't SEEM to have an agenda. Who knows for sure, but I think he's just telling it the way he hears it. Only way to tell for sure is to listen for yourself. I thought the review was pret...
JRDG 500 watt integrated ? I've only heard of the Concerto, which I own and is 250wpc. Plenty of power for me. The 500-watter will probably be A LOT more expensive.
DarTZeel Preamp FYI, I have it on VERY good information that even the original CDSD upsampled to 2x DSD, and it did so automatically. I will try and confirm that tonight.
Audio Prism or Enacom line filters I don't know if we're talking about the same thing, but I love Audioprism Quietlines. I have them all over my basement, and they've lowered the noise floor quite a bit. Great stuff!
With all your knowlege you have gained over time, Interesting question. If I had it to do all over again, I'd probably decide what my sonic priorities were before I bought anything. Unfortunately, I did it the opposite way: I bought and bought, and sold and sold, wasting TONS of money in the proc...
DarTZeel Preamp Just FYI, I had a looong reply planned for Frank, but as the adults we are, we contacted each other offline and resolved ALL our differences in a most understanding and friendly manner. As far as both of us are concerned, this matter is settled. P...
Johnny Cash cd's I'm a HUGE Cash fan, so I would probably recommend almost everything he ever recorded. "Folsom" and "San Quentin" are both remastered, and they sound very good, even though they're not "audiophile" recordings. My personal favorites are the four Am...
DarTZeel Preamp Frank:Just to clarify: My "utterly ridiculous" comment was tied to a previous phrase in which I said that DartTZeel was starting to get some very good press in the States, the lukewarm "Soundstage" review excepted. And, while I may have started th...
DarTZeel Preamp Oneobgyn:To say that I "continually" make comments about how the DarTZeel requires adequate break-in before it's full potential is reached, you'd better go back through these threads, because I doubt if I made that comment even ONCE. I'm usually c...
DarTZeel Preamp Frank:You're right that there could be a double standard here. Hey, I really don't care. I just want to enjoy my music, and this whole blowup is seriously getting in the way. If you and others don't want to give me or Mike credibility because we'r...
DarTZeel Preamp Oneobgyn:I understand and appreciate your stance. I don't think Jeff Fritz fell outside the mainstream because he described what he heard. At first I thought that he had matched his components poorly, but I trust Jonathan and Mike when they say th...
DarTZeel Preamp My my, what a furor a few hastily chosen words can cause. It's completely true that there is no "right" or "wrong" in this hobby. There are many ways up the audio mountain. Each person who has posted to this thread has his own, and each is equally...
DarTZeel Preamp Jtinn:The Malinowski review is quite interesting--and heartening to an owner of the DarTZeel amp. I'm a little surprised that Mike had such good results with the X-2, since mine with the Maxx2s was less than impressive. I chalked it up to the impe... |
