Zingali HM-215 horn speakers
I don't know about that particular model, but I did spend some time at a dealer listening to some Zingalis. They were a lot of fun to listen to, dynamic and warm, but I though they also introduced a coloration into the music. Big band music sounde...
SONY SCD-XA5400ES vs all Accuphase models
I remember years ago taking a Sony 707ES cd player in to a shop that was displaying the new Rotel $1400 CD player that had gotten an absolute rave from stereophile. The clerk told me I shouldn't even bother, the Sony would blow it so far out of th...
Screzaloos?
Maybe you should stop drinking so much :^)Yes, I've wondered the same thing myself, but you can always transfer your CDs to other media (I think). I like having a hard copy of my music. I don't trust those little things. What if it breaks? Also, I...
Berkeley Alpha DAC vs Theta Gen VIII and stuff...
Thanks for the info Worldcat. Was the GenVIII series2 more or less agressive sounding than the series1? Also, how many steps are there in the BADA volume control (or more to the point, are the steps fine enough that you don't have to choose betwee...
Berkeley Alpha DAC vs Theta Gen VIII and stuff...
Worldcat/Fsarc/Ronv - Have you tried both the series 1 and 2? Were you able to tell the differences side-by-side, or in close time proximity to each other? I read the Serinus review, sounds great, but my dealer said he upgraded one, and the upgrad...
Quietest Refrigator ?
Excellent thread!!!
New LP's made from analog or digital masters
Good question. And if digital, are they using hi-res digital formats or plain old CD format?
Cleaning AC plugs, receptacles and other contacts
In that case, the best thing would probalby be to blow them out. If you can get a compressor, hook a blow gun up to it and blast the dust out. I would be hesitant to use any abrasive / polish on the inside contacts, because it will leave its own r...
Output tube radiation exposure - thoughts?
OK, good enough, case settled. Going from a Rotel to a hand built 6C33C tube amp on a stainless chassis - that's awesome. Why screw around with all the baby steps to climb the audiophile ladder when you can just get it all done right at once the f...
Output tube radiation exposure - thoughts?
My comment was based on military radar transmitter tubes that operate in the 45KV or higher range. As I said, much higher than any audio equipment uses. I meant it as a possible explanation of the source of concern of the original poster, and to h...
Output tube radiation exposure - thoughts?
I thnk it has more to od with the voltage the tubes operate at, rather than the frequencies they are amplifying. I don't think there is a problem unitl you start getting into much higher voltages than any audio amplifier uses, But at those voltage...
Does anyone have any experiences with the....
You'd probably get more responses if you put the subject of your question in the title.
Shuguang Treasure tubes....
What i don't understand is why Grant Fidelity doesn't break the tubes in. How can they choose the top % of tubes if they change so much after they run for 300 hours. It wouldn't take much for a manufacturer / distributor to set up a rig where they...
Phono pre-amps with volume control
JJ243 Preamp has an excellent phono stage in it, and you can run it with just the phono stage, with the phono stage and volume control, and Phono stage, volume control, and another gain stage, so you can accomodae low output cartridges. I am runni...
Please recommend a musical sub for me
I love the TC50s - first speaker I ever bought, still have them. Kinergetics subs used to be recommended with them; they even had a crossover card specifically for the TC50s. Also, anything Audio Physic would be great (Luna, Terra). I remember hea...
