DEQ 2496 Help
I had the same problem, but can't quite remember what I did to fix it. I think you have to go into the menu that is something like "connections" - the one that looks like a little block diagram/schematic - and connect the pink noise generator to t...
Recall of Krell Amplifiers
Thanks for the explanation Al. That makes Shadorne's post MUCH funnier. That level of subtlety would have all gone completely over my head otherwise.
Does Wilson Sophia Sound good at low volumes?
Anything Spica will sound good at low volumes, but will not get loud. Audio Physic Virgo II and Step (late 90s models)will sound good at low and high volumes, as will Sonics by Joachim Gerhard Allegras.
Shuguang Treasure tubes....
Did they make a 6SN7 for a while? I thought I remember seeing them advertised here. Or were those the CV-181s? Does anyone know if they would work well in Atma Sphere MA1s?
Shuguang Treasure tubes....
JWM - I am enjoying a mix of Sylvania and RCA 6SN7s in my Atma Sphere amps, and agree with your assessment. I have not heard the Treasure tubes, though, and won't say they can't sound better then NOS w/o having heard them first. Have you actually ...
TUBE NOOB: WHAT BRAND
WTF?!!?? What's with all the attitude, people? The poster asked a reasonable question, and everyone's jumping on him like he has a bad attitude!! I don't get it. He's got a bit of an oddball tube type, maybe there's not much info out there. Even if...
What Color is your system
Oops, sorry about that, Mech. But it sure has been an interesting thread...
What Color is your system
Douglas - Every wavelength is associated with one and only one frequency; that frequency is determined by dividing the speed of light by the wavelength - 8th grade physics. I still don't see how this adds any logical merit to the discussion. It is...
Is anything better than Aleph 3?
Regarding the Alephs sounding boring - I won't disagree,as in the wrong system, they can sound bad. I had this experience when I brought my Aleph3 to an AtmaSphere dealer. He was playing some high impedance horn speakers, which were a perfect matc...
Is anything better than Aleph 3?
No. I've been down this path, and the only thing I've found better than an Aleph 3 is a pair of AtmaSphere MA1s, which put out much more heat, and cost a lot more to buy and run (tubes/electricity). The JJ 828 is very nice also, not as dynamic, bu...
Better to change Speakers first or new Preamp+amp
I tend to agree with the above, but why take our word for it. With the amount of new gear you're considering buying, ask him to let you borrow amps and speakers for a long weekend, and hear for yourself. Take a couple vacation days, and duke it ou...
Has anyone ever cried listening to your system
Some people are into this hobby for the equipment, some for the music, some both. I don't think there is any reason to be judgemental about any of these groups. I'm ionto it for both. People who are into it for the music will probably have a stron...
Has anyone ever cried listening to your system
It happens occasionally, although I think it is a function of the music more than the system. I suspect the same would have occurred on lesser systems wiht the same music. The one I remember most vividly was at Fidelis HiFi. Toward the end of a de...
What to do, what to do.. oh God, what to do?
Thank God for your good fortune at being in a position to have 2 great systems, then stop bugging him so he can concentrate on real problems ;0). That's what we're here for - the fun stuff!
CD's you bring for auditioning
I always use something from Greg Brown. Great for checking out midbass richness. His voice shouild sound appropriately gravelly and powerful. I don't like to use my favorite recordings because with repeated listening, the joy of listening to them ...
