@burtlake That will be my next experiment -- ST35 + Carbon 7s!
Such Great help before. Maybe some more help now
If you like the speakers, as I did, the greatest positive change would come from three things: 1. Room treatment. This is the biggest lever, potentially, but also involves the greatest cost and trouble. But it's 50% of the sound. Lots of help out...
Your journey with lower-watt tube amps -- Can a kit be good enough?
Thanks @atmasphere. I need to check into those things and I have a friend/tech who can help.

@corelli Sorry! Already sold it. I didn't build it. I did just buy a Dynaco ST-35 though ;-)
Merry go round
Great reply, @kevn I appreciate you pushing me on this. It helps me become clearer about my convictions and intuitions, perhaps even realizing that some are wrong. ;-) At the venue, when you say something "is ‘real’ for everyone" I agree. But "r...
Your journey with lower-watt tube amps -- Can a kit be good enough?
I hooked up my Dynaco ST-35 to my speakers and did some listening.  97 db speakers -- JBL 16inch woofer and Beyma AMT tweeter. HEARING:  Very strong grip on bass. Amazingly good.  Mid range less warm, intimate than I expected.  Highs pretty clear...

Thanks @atmasphere  I would love to hear what Harley would say in response.
How do you A/B amps in your system?
It’s pretty easy for me. My rack is between my speakers and all are quite a few feet from the wall behind the speakers ("front wall"). Each amp has speaker wires already in the back. Let’s say I’m listening to A, first. I play a test tone (say,...

@kevn Thanks for your friendly post. A meal has ingredients, such as beef, which comes from a cow. The cow is processed and the material is configured in various ways that leads to the experienced taste perceptions. A reproduced song has ingre...
WHY DO SOME AUDIOPHILES TRY TO TELL OTHERS WHAT THEY CAN OR CAN’T HEAR IN A SYSTEM?
Yesterday, I learned something new: A colleague suggested that we adopt "un-offendability" as a superpower -- the ability to "hear" things we don't agree with, while maintaining civility. The true spirit of science -- a hypothetical attitude. F...

You are overpaying. When I got out of the service in late 1970, I went to work at a Lincoln-Mercury dealership. Our retail labor rate was $7.00 per hour $7 per hour in the late 1970's is equal to $36 per hour today.
